This N-tercooler is relatively pretty expensive if you plan to use often. I would suggest alcohol injection instead or a CO2 spray kit as it is much cheaper. Another alternative for the STI guys is to run ice in the intercooler spray res w/ a 30% mixture of rubbing alcohol. This provides a tremendous cooling effect, condsidering cost and will allow you to run higher boost. Just be warned that if you bump up the boost and use a spray kit or TB alcohol injection system you run the risk of leaning out and blowing something if you run out of cooling element. Right now, I'm running 18.3 LBs on through the access port stage II and 30% rubbing alcohol mix in the tank for added cooling, just for the hard freeway runs and I have no problem. Then again, I have not experienced detonation at this PSI even w/o using my sprayer. BTW, I have a STI Rally intercooler spray kit for sale if anyone is interested w/ a WRX / non-STI. It comes w/ the STI button, dual pump wiper res and STI IC sprayer. Let me know if anyone is interested. These are brand new parts.

Is there a way to mod the intercooler spray button on the STi so it stays on all of the time? I would like to have it continually spray all of the way down the track.

Dunno how that STi circuit works but if it just requires pushing the button a lot...then you could rig up a small circuit that will continuously repeat that. Kinda like those controlers they used to sell for the old Nintendo that made certain keys press repeatedly...gawd I loved those for street fighter!

However, if the sprayer duration is controlled by the ECU or some other thing...you might have to do some intense stuff to get it to spray continuously. If this is the case I would separate the sprayer from whatever connects it to the ECU and rig it to just run off of a simple toggle switch.

There is a replacement button to have it turn on all the time once it's engaged. I have one from rallyspec. You can also set it run activate at a specified boost. Pivot makes a unit for this and there is also a boost pressure switch for about $30, which I have but haven't hooked up yet. Sorry, don't know the part # off the top of my head.

Sweetness, could you get me a link to where you got those from? One question about the rubbing alcohol mixture:

Why is it that the alcohol keeps the intercooler colder, is it because it evaporates faster than regular water; therefore disapating heat faster? Do you keep rubbing alcohol in your freezer to keep it extra cold, or what?

No I'm pretty sure it is independant of the ecu. I think that it just works off of a button.

You can get the button from Rallispec.com. Talk to Dave, he's the owner. As for the alcohol, I keep it all the time in my tank at about 30% mixture. I would only put ice in the tank when racing. The alcohol provides greater cooling properties on the IC, similar to if you were to run an alcohol/water injection system. Just do a search online, you can find tons of info on alcohol injection, especially from the Grandnational guys.
