Unhappy On my way to church this morning...

and on Laimi Street off of the Pali Hwy a truck crossed the center line and hit my car. The street is relatively narrow and a blind corner. I saw the truck in the middle of the road and figured he didn't see me yet. So I slowed down to about 10-15mph and pulled over to give him more room since he has a bigger vehicle. Well apparently he didn't have enough room. As you can see the impact was on my side of the road. I'm pretty sure he is at fault.

He didn't have his insurance card with him, but said he has insurance. The officer wrote him up for that as well. The plus is that no one got hurt. What would happen if this guy has no insurance? I was very surprised with the hardness of the body on my car though. A nearly direct t-bone and just outer body damage, minus the window and scratches and mirror falling off. I have already starting buffing, maybe it'll be all out in a week or so.

Yea, thats my window. I had the a/c on. I think its good I had tint because it didn't shatter in our faces (my girlfriend and I). What makes me sour though about this whole thing is that recently I bought a truck to daily drive to work/school and only drive my STi on the weekends to church or maybe out. And the first time driving it this weekend I get hit not even half a mile after leaving my girlfriends house. But yea, these cars are like tanks man.

^^^What everyone above is thinking or has said...

Man Dale...sounds like you are doing ok...healthwise...glad to hear that...

As far as your car man...crap. Looks like your tint kept you from getting showered with glass too...

This happened to me also, but I was rear ended by an uninsured motorist.

What will happen is your insurance company will probably initially take care of the repair, but will help you go after the guy for damages (your repair and deductible)...This happened to me about 2 years ago...but in my case, the person was in the Military so I didn't have any worries (I was in the AF and know). I initially had to pay the $500 deductible for my repairs, and the insurance company (GEICO) went after him...I had to keep calling GEICO to find out the situation...I would do the same because it seemed the lady in charge of my case, kept forgetting to follow up...Anyhow, after about 8 long months, I was reimbursed for my damages...

GEICO's lawyer apparently contacts the individual and requests damages. If they do not contact them back, the threats starts...this is usually when the individual starts to get their butt in gear...

Oh, and btw...make sure to tell your insurance company that it was their fault...so your rates don't go up...although this is a "no fault" state which I think is BS but thats another issue, it should state on the accident report who caused the accident to some degree...

Man...I'm bummed for you...glad you are ok.

Brent

Not to be a dink or anything, but those pictures (especially the color of the car) make it look like aluminum foil....

Sorry to hear about the accident, sounds like you did the right thing and got the shaft for it anyways. Hope the car turns out well. G'luck.

Yea, the guy kinda just left his truck on my car for a little while leaving me trapped in. Good thing cuz at first i tried to get out to confront him, but instead was just yelling from my car. I kinda cooled down by the time he backed up and let me out. I was diagnosed with a little PTSD for like 3 months when I got back. I guess that counseling paid off.

If I sell my car, about how much below blue book will my car's value drop?

Take care Jose.

Keep at it... maybe in a good 6-8 months you can get it back to a lustrous shine!
