My new favorite show...Bizarre Foods

is called "Bizarre Foods" Monday nights on the Travel Channel...usually around 8pm.

Each show specializes in the foods and cultures of the area chosen. The first show was on the Phillipines...then Morocco and most recently Ecuador...

Wow, this guy tries some pretty scary stuff...or at least seemingly scary since I have not seen or tried most of these foods...The ones that really get me though are these huge coconut grubs or mangrove worms...wow, that is pretty brave eating one of those things...

or half rotted meat from Morocco...

Ecuador was pretty tame, they did carry and pet these guinea pigs before they ate them though...that was kind of weird...you can almost taste what the host is going through...the way he eats and expresses his sensations...

Next week is Spain...

As a Montanan, not something I'm terribly proud of, but... They are refered to as "Rocky Mountain Oysters". Here is a web flyer for one of the bigger MT events: http://www.testyfesty.com/

Funny thing - my Aunt wrote me today asking why I haven't visited in so long. Now I remember.

^^^yep...in Colorado as well...

Rocky Mountain Oysters or also know as "Sweet Bread" in Colorado...they cut "it" up in thin slices, batter and coat it with breakcrumbs and fry them crisp...served with cocktail sauce...first time I had them, my friends family said they were something...couldn't hear them...I was so hungry I munched them up...I found out later what they were...at first I felt kind of sick...but then again...they really are pretty good...we had them as appetizers prior to eating a huge portion of steak...man, those were the days...I really miss Colorado...Fishing in the summer, snowboarding in the winter...

Yeah...it is the fat bald guy...pretty cool job...

The guy is hilarious...he always eats something twice before commenting...and his comments are seldom negative in nature...but when he ate two bites of the rotten morrocan goat meat with eggs...the second time, he was slapping the back of his head saying the rotten meat aroma just kept permeating his nose....yech...

I remember him saying that the more grotesque something looks, the more neutral the flavor is. Like the one where he was eating the live worm things pulled out of some rotting wood. He commented that they mostly tasted like the sauce he was dipping them in.

Spain and Gulf Coast...

Spain looked really good...expensive, exotic foods...from baby eels to once again, bull *********...what is this thing with ********* man...all the matadors over there are suppose to eat them for spiritual reasons...

The gulf coast was nothing new to me because I lived in South Carolina and visited Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc....but the possom and raccoon, not sure about those buggers...Chittlins, fried foods, and soul food...didn't get to try the chitlins...but I ate good in the South.

Can't remember where next week is, but it looked interesting...

Have you tried it before?

I haven't had the opportunity to try...I"ve eaten dinaguan and like the way Thelma's prepares it but not Golden Coin...

Lechon Kawali prepared at Thelma's (Thelma's Special) and Pork Adobe Fried rice is still my favorite!!!! I can eat that everyday!

I could go for some of the ice cream right now though...I really like the sweet potato and cheese ice cream...

of course i tried the balut...like the host said, nothing really special, it's like eating egg and chicken at the same time...lol. easy on the pork adobo and dinuguan, i heard they are high in cholesterol. i haven't tried Thelma's...just hooked on GC right now.
hey, is that the Magnolia brand purple potato/yam ice cream? that's the best!
