Monkey Works

I'm not sure if I'm spelling monkey works right but any ways. I was driving past today and was looking into the shop and saw that they have dyna packs. I don't know if this is old news but just wanted to let you guys know.

ask them what trap speeds do they see with said whp since accuracy can vary per dyno. I don't know how long they've had it so who knows if those number are consistent or if they even have trap speeds to compare. good luck and please post your findings.

BTW i do not trust rads dyno numbers until i see the results to back it.

yup I will co-sign to that, they are 2 wheel drive dyno packs. unless of course he got a AWD set now since I last was there, which was last year.

Umm thats not true man. its all about the tuner/driver

most of the guys here who got tuned for #'s wont do good on the road. you can tune on a dyno to have "HIGH 300HP" but a 1000rpm power band that doesnt spool till super late wont do crap on the track. now if you tune it lets say "250 HP" but have it for 4000rpm power band that car will do some damage on the track. please dont bad mouth a shop when there not the ones who tune the cars to where they are.

there is a few ppls here who had "NICE" #'s but were heart broken when stock legacys and sti's where hurting there feelings at the track. on that was the tuners fault not the dyno (not saying names but you know i love you)

this is true.........dyno slips mean nothing if you are not making any real usable power in 1st-3rd gears. I put down 327Hp 341tq good for 12's on a 1/4 but couldn't break out of the 14's and that is with 3 separate drivers that know how to launch an AWD car. After doing to some recording with my guages I noticed my boost never saw past 0.5 bars till the top end of third gear. once i hit 4th all power seem to come alive which explains why I started seeing trap speeds over 100/similiar trap speeds of what the Legacy (STI killer) was doing but in the end he was still beating me.

now prior to my accident and working with a new tune I hit 0.6xxxbars at the end of 1st gear and every gear past that saw a very noticeable difference.

and yes Shaggy was talking about me..............

I dont have a problem with RADs at all but I do not trust the numbers that come off the dyno until I see results to compare. Now I would have a issue with them IF (I'm not saying they do or did) they alter the settings on the dyno to read "nice" numbers. Until then the numbers that come off that dyno are just that...numbers.

It would be nice if the guys that were able to run their car at a track can post their time slips with their dyno numbers also make clear if you were road or dyno tuned. so we can gather information and get an idea to achieve the desired result.
