Wink made a mustang owner feel a little better ...

well, on my way home from watching 'The Italian Job', .... a white GT with the usuall sounding bolt-on's wanted to play on H1 a bit, .......

..... so, after arguing with myself until I past the airport ....... I puled up next to him and let it rip. ............. I pulled on him as I thought I would, ... but low and behold, 7psi on a vf 30 with basically stock everything else SUCKS BIG HAIRY BEAN BAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he started pulling on me in 4th pretty good, and I lost my lead. I pulled up next to him afterwards and rolled my window down, .... I was gonna say "7 PSI", .... but their smiles were so big I didn't have the heart.

NOW WHO HAD A MBC they didn't want anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????

If you can figure out how to control boost with my Xede, you can have my MBC.

Also, would you know how to tune the Xede so that it will accept Ultimate Racing 785cc low impedence injectors? Or should I go with PE 650cc injectors?

Oh, are you still interested in STi injectors? They only have about 300miles on them

possibly still interested in the injectors

About what the Xede can and can't do, ... I'm going to need to call Shiv with a list of questions, ... b/c I haven't done my homework at all about the xede.
I'll see what I can come up with

but you could always go with the low impedance injecotors anyway, you'd just need right resistors added to the mix.

oh, I just realized that the ulimate racing injectors come with the resistor packs, .... so yeah, I don't see why not to go with the 785cc's.

This is from Shiv.

Hi guys,

We do check this forum as often as we can but things have been really busy these last few weeks. For instance, today, I was making maps for the newest version of our WRX XEDE.

Yes, it now controls boost

And it does so very well. Better than I ever thought possible to be honest. Basically, it controls boost in the same way one tunes for fuel. Simply plus or minus offsets in a Load vs. Engine Speed table. Simple. Boost targets can be modifed by making adjustments in the MAP table. Perfect closed loop boost control with all the factory safeguards (overtemp, over-knock, low vehicle speed trims, etc,.)

Just as with our reflashes, the XEDE is designed to work with our little aluminum restrictors that replace the factory plastic coupler. Basically, it's our own little version (with a small bleed) of the 3/16th restrictor mod. It allows us to bring down wastegate solenoid duty cycles while still hitting our higher-than-stock boost targets.

Today, I did an XEDE map for a stock WRX (Subzero). Ended up making a very strong 185 wheel hp on our dyno which is a 25 wheel hp gain over stock on 91 octane.

Tomorrow, that same very car is being mapped again with a VF30, injectors, pump, up-pipe and turbo-back. This means that I will have Stage 2 baseline maps ready to go by tomorrow.

Judging by the number of cars we tune a week, I suspect it won't be too long before we have Stage Zero and Stage One ready to go.

For current XEDE users to get the new boost control (and MAP switching) features, the XEDE will have to be updated (both hardware and firmware). It will have to come back to us for updating. The harness will have to be swapped out as well if one does not want to do any additional wiring work. Please call us if you'd like to arrange the swap. My suggestion, however, is to wait another couple of weeks until we have all our stages mapped out. I'm going on a tuning trip to Matrix Engineering (in Seattle) this weekend and I'm bound to get a few baseline maps out of it

Cheers,
shiv
