You definitely want some wheel spin, but I'm thinking the low-end grunt of the XT + the stock Geolanders could leave you spinning a little longer than desired. They're not exactly performance tires. I don't think a little less air would turn them into drag radials.

That's true about the 4.44 gearing...really pulls hard! My auto should be worse with the 90/10 split! Maybe I can run my Kumho R's now...

Update: I ran my XT again tonite.....I ran a best of 14.6@95mph three times in a row (my last 3 runs after running 15.1s and 14.9s many times before). The guy at the lights kept asking me about the Forester...he didn't really know about it. Run after run, he was giving me tips and telling me to try running on the left lane, as it had better traction that night.

Thumbs up

Way to go sneezerboi! Looks like low 14's possible in stock trim! You got me all anxious now... I wonder if the 4EAT can come within a second of the 5MT?

Heh heh, never know unless you try. I wouldn't mind seeing you at the tracks one night. It's surprising how many people don't know what the FXT is. It surprises them even more when they find out it's stock! Hey russ, we should run one night....two identical black FXTs at the line.....

I'm sure our cars would run faster on the mainland. People from there tell me that the conditions here, altitude, air, etc. cause cars to run slower than they're capable of in better conditions (i.e. 60degrees w/dry air). I'm determined to run better times. I've heard of people running 13.8s@97mph in the mainland.

Foolishly, I've been looking forward to similar times my first time out, only to be running .9seconds slower. I failed to take into account atmospherical conditions. oh well, i'll try working my way down from a 14.6

I don't think expectations of low 14's to high 13's is foolish! Just gotta get your launch & your 1-2 shift down. If you can kick in a 1.7 60 ft you'll be there! Throw on a turbo back exhaust and you better bring your helmet!

right on guys. With that 14's on Oahu you're definitely running lower than you thought you were. If you did the track on the big island you will be in the 13's. Same friend with an acura who ran 14.5 here did low 15's as his best over there. You my friend have a 13 sec suv.
