please make sure your car is up to par to tune & please make sure your there for your tune and not forget.

$395 new tune for 2 hrs (anything over will be an extra $50 per half hour. slim chance this will happen on a new tune unless your car has issues)

$120 dyno time per hour (2wd is $80 per hour)

~Open Source
~Osiris (requires license)
~Greddy E-manage Ultimate
~AEM
~F-con
~Many others - contact Chris for more information on your specific tuning software

Re-Flash $300 for 1.5 hours (if you have tuned with AMS before & with the same ECU)

Evo X/DSM Link $600.

Re-Flash Evo X/DSM link $400 1.5 hours (if you have tuned with AMS before & with the same ECU)

Osiris it's $300 if you already have the license for the software if not it will be an additional $300 for the license

AEM $700 till your done

Other Standalone guys will also need to contact Chris for pricing since these will take a while to tune.

Dyno will be $120 per hour. (if your a 2wd your dyno time is $80 per hour) if you feel you need more time take 2 slots. if you go over your time RADS will charge you an "After hours fee" since it will make the whole day back up. & its not fair to rads or the guys in the afternoon to have to pay more b/c your car wasn't ready. Most of the times its due to parts not working or boost leaks. if your car is ready it shouldnt take that long. So, since the 05 died and I have the 09 now, will it count as a new tune?

Here's a stupid question, but at what point would you say it's worth it to tune your car?

I'd say it really depends on what you plan to use the car for; daily driver or track use. If it's just going to be used for a DD, than a pro tune can wait until you've maxed out the preset stage 2 options. In fact torqued performance offers a stage 3 map too. If you're planning on tracking the car, a pro tjne will allow you to eek out a few more ponies and tailor better toward your needs.
I'd email AMS with your response to the aforementioned and see what they suggest. They can set up mild to wild maps to accommodate your needs. Happy modding!

I have to beg to differ with u on this one.

Anytime you mod your car with performance parts u want to get a tune for your car with the parts you have on it. All the OTS maps out there do NOT provide correct tuning for Examples:

Gas
Temp
Humidity
CAI or short ram intake
Sea level

These are just some if many things that can differ from OTS maps

An OTS map is a simple bandaid till you can get on the dyno. No 2 cars are the same.

Would u buy a shoe based on someone else who is as tall & weighs as much as you?

Not hating but just letting u know that advice is not good

I respect your opinion but it kinda comes off biased. I mean from what you are saying, everyone should tune their cars right off the dealer lot as the ECU is already faulty for HI as it was not manufactured here.

From all the research I've done the OTS map from Cobb is more than adequate for daily driving especially here in HI as we are at basically 0 elevation and they are designed to be more on the rich side than lean anyway. As far as temp, our climate here is as ideal as it can get and that includes humidity. Oh and BTW, I have the stock intake and if I did get an aftermarket intake I would I would definitely log, check the log and share it with Cobb for a quick once over.

I respect your opinion and know that you've earned your respect here on the forums but I'd appreciate a miniscule amount of reciprocation. I won't reply to anymore posts as I don't wanna jack the thread up. But on another note, thanks for the initiative with bringing AMS down. From what I've read they do some really good work. I'll definitely keep them in mind if I do any further mods.

I ain't mad. Just know enough about the stock Subaru mapping to let u know its an extremely safe map and the its held back by a lot. Why do u think that when u go to a ap you get such a HUGE increase in power. It's b/c Subaru has to make it really tame and really low boost so that it will work in all climates.

OTS maps are more advanced in this category and are based off of it. It's a basic help.

Ill use my car for example.

I have a naturally aspirated 2.5rs with 117k miles. My car was boosted at 10k miles I was tuned by AMS @ 30k miles. From 10-30k miles my n/a car was only running 1-2psi. I'm now at 10psi. My car was at 187awhp @ 1-2 psi. I'm now at 250awhp @ 10psi. If you are familiar with the n/a boosted guys my motor should of been blown of at least 20-30k miles ago. My tune along with my gauges help me to see what is going in with my car and help my increase the life past what I thought I would be at.

I have a bad oil leak now ( pissed about this) cause I rather my car die due to a power issues then a gasket breaking due to my car being 13 years old.

Before my tune my car performance wise ran ok but the tune was crap and my car would have not lasted this long. This is the difference with OTS and a customer tune with add on's specifically for your car.

Your new to the game I could have come at you much different but I didn't feel u needed me to be like that tho at the same time I had to say what I did due to the fact it wasn't good advice to maximize stage 2 OTS. I don't care that others read this and that it's off topic cause it not. And I don't care who u tune with cause that's your choice. Like u said you need to research what you do. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose & by the I mean you have a happy motor or a mad spouse or wallet.

In the end what is 500 over a new motor?
