Job opportunities?
I suggest working while you're in college in an industry that you'll be studying.
That way you can get some of your internships and stuff out of the way. You'll also get some good resume additions which will help you land a nice salary after you get your degree.
Some of the military guys that I know had some great IT/computer skills coming out of the military so they were pretty well off like Nate but some others I know had to go back to school or work good hourly jobs.
Oh and don't mistake leadership in the military for leadership at the workplace...it's a different set of motivators over here. Though I will always give a member of the military a little closer look if their resume happens across my desk

That is interesting because that is not supposed to happen. There is a universal base pay scale for all service members, both active and reserve. Possibly the national guards (both air and army) are paid by the state on the states on scale instead of the federal one.

The Air National Guard and National Guard full-timers are funded by the State...
My friend in the Air National Guard in Alaska was pulling in $60K+/year 5 years ago when I left..at the time he was an E-5.
He was an engine mechanic for the C-130...
