Job opportunities?
Well, it looks like I will be getting out of the Marines in a few months, maybe sooner and am considering staying on the island if I can find a good paying job. So if anyone knows anyone who is hiring or any good places to look please let me know. I dont want to work at starbucks or burgerking, i would need an actual decent job. thanks in advance!

you may want to..
put down some interests or qualifications...what kind of job are you looking for?
Sometimes its tough when you get out of the military...what you thought was bad, was a way of life for a short stint...simple and good...Someone told you to do something...you did it. Food, shelter, medical and all of lifes necessities were provided for you...along with a big brother to look after you...all that will be gone.
I know, I was in the Air Force for 4 years...
I went straight back to college and finished up my degree at the top of my class...you might want to think about doing this...there are a lot of vets going back to school, a lot of my classmates were ex-military members...
You may also want to consider going in as a Full-time Guard or Reserve member...all the benefits of the military, but much better pay...I know a lot of Air National Guard members making 60K+/year...without the hassle of being in the regular military...plus your military time will count toward your retirement.
Good luck man...remember, you served your country and nobody can take that away from you...ever.

What he said. A friend of mine is staying on LOA from United Airlines because he makes more in the reserves. Assuming you're enlisted (big ***umption, I know) you're not likely to be able to land a good job out here without further education. Use your GI benefits, go get a degree and then worry about where you're going to settle down.

well first, thanks for the encouragement brent, i appreciate it.
as for simple and easy, if thats how i liked it the marines probably wouldnt have been my first choice
i have no problem working hard and i definitly have no problem thinking for myself and that is in fact the biggest reason i want to get out. i have alot of job skills including various computer skills and a background in web design. i went to school for graphic arts and design. i have a background in music although we all recognize you wont make much money there. my GPA in college is a 3.9 and i am planning to finish school and get my business degree when i do get out. school is going to be my priority but i still gotta pay the bills. not to ring my own bell, but there arent alot of jobs i wouldnt be successful at and even if i didnt have alot of experience in the field i am a very quick learner. i have management experience and say what you want about the military but if you've never led a section of marines in combat then dont talk to me about leadership skills. Im not real picky about what kind of work it is although i do have a bum shoulder so keep that in mind. i can do office work and despite the amazing show of english that i make in the forums here, i do understand the concept of proper grammer and english. if anyone has made it this far in my ranting i really appreciate your time and help and you are an amazing person

if you're interested in possibly working in the construction industry (field worker or management staff) i could direct you to some companies. i'm not currently looking for any workers/staff, but some of my colleagues are. lmk.

Mike,
You should PM David (Cynt). He finished his degree in Graphic Arts just two years ago so he might be able to give you some advice about looking for a job in that field.

hmm...
not sure what scale you are talking about...I am talking Full-Time Guard...
IE: Air National Guard...as full time members, they are paid differently...definitely a LOT more than regular active service military for doing the same jobs...
