Jacking up engine on passenger side
Have a question,..
During the STI uppipe install on the 05 forester xt, I couldnt get the oem uppipe out the bottom like I was able to on my LGT and my friends lgt.
How do you jack up the engine on the Forester after removing the engine mount bolt with a floor jack, or do I need a bottle jack (which I dont have).
Been searching on the web, but couldnt find any pics....
Thanks,
Kevin

You can use the floor jack and a wood block. Jack up on the short block side NOT on the head side. Just look for a spot that open there should be one close to the engine mount. Do jack it up too high just enough to can get the up pipe out. If you don't want to do it that way you can pull turbo and pull it from the top. But thats the hard way.

Ok,..theory into practice tomorrow or tuesday. Got baby duty and wife has dr. Appt after work,..hopefully the sti uppipe is the same length as now ive read the 05 was different length mid-year for some reason which would mean i would either need a different year uppipe or aftermarket,..
Will see as soon as i get the oem forester one off,....

place one jack under oil pan with wood, place one jack under tranny with wood. unbolt engine mounts. give couple pumps to release some stress on pitch stop mount. unbolt pitch stop mount. unbolt any other parts that may affect minor lifting (exhaust, etc.) continue lifting. SLOWLY and CAUTIOUSLY. TAKE YOUR TIME. you still have wires, hoses, etc attached and can easily break/rip if youre not paying attention.
if you do it slowly, patiently, and evenly (trann/engine side even pumps). This method worked for me fine when i replaced OE engine mounts. GL bro!
As always, im providing this as informational not instructional. Do it at your own risk and always be aware of the consequences. You never know when Murphy is peeking arounf the corner and peeping your sick scoob. LOL

Actually, looks like i can clear the egt sensor. Its the top flange contacting the block once i clear the power steering lines,,, no twisting or turning helps clear the top flange frm hitting the block.
