Honestly dude if you never changed out a suby trans b4 don't do it unless you have the proper tools. What you need is a pitch mount tool that prvents the motor from rocking while your trying to slide the trans back on. Now i'm not saying it can't be done but your in for a real fun ride if you definately never done it before. i've done 2 and i might be able to help (might) but man be patient and have the tool first b4 you tackle that trans.

good luck

mario

well the trans is in........... but we still got to put everything back. its really hard with just 4 people...... that damn trans freakin heavy(well we were on our backs trying to manueur around the wires, chasis, jack, other peoples legs) < i almost got rowshambo'd  (dont know how to spell that). how do you bolt up the trans....... well this is how i always do it..... i remove all the bolts for the trans, then i remove the big allen bolt on the drivers side of the trans to pull out the shaft for the shift fork that goes on the pilot bearing and remove the shift fork on the pilot bearing. then pull out trans. -install- i put back the shaft for the shift fork and install the shift fork on the pilot bearing. then the install the pressure plate and clutch disk on the input shaft while the trans still out. then install trans and bolt a couple the trans bolts to just the hold it on the engine(at the sametime i line up pressure plate holes to insert the dow pins on the flywheel). then thru the starter hole i turn crank slowly to see the holes the pressure plate install the 6 DAMN bolts and tighten down. we had to repeat this three times cuz the f***in bolt fell in the bell housing. i had to slightly pull out the trans a bit to grab to bolt in bell housing. is this how you do it on the freakin ground. i am soo use to having a rack..... damn let me know if there is a easier way then that??????????? i wish it was done...... my neck is all tense and stiff. oooo well.

Yeah i know what your going thru i've done 2 on the ground w/ a budy to help each time. One that that will make it much easier is to just have that tool that prvents the engine from rocking.

Good luck w/ the rest of the install

i used my friend to hold the engine from rockin back and forth..... i know am suppose to use the special tool. oooo this job pretty much gave me a stiff neck..... bump on my head(wacked my head on the jack stand)........ cut on my right arm. well thanks...... we still got to install the rear diff too....... i forgot to mention..... R160 rear diff. that is a heavy bastard! but it was pretty simple to take out. there is two nuts on the rear side of diff(has like the rear diff mount), then there is like 6 nuts in the front diff. then this the key to taking this damn diff out....... you dip the nose of diff and slide out of the long studs cuz there are long. then at the same time there are long studs on the rear(for the rear diff mount-four inches long) thats in the rear sub frame. so you got dip the rear down untill you get the all the studs out and then you pop off the rear axles out. then when pulling that out, we almost got our hands CRUSHED. phew!
well we are going to probably to put back rest the stuff probably next week.
