Install Day, Springs, etc
All,
I would like to get some input from you all.
In January I'm going to be getting the TurboXS Turbo-back exhaust but will need some help to install it. Everyone says it isn't that difficult, just a few bolts here and there. I would like to get some assistance. Not sure what is needed to do this job. I have a garage and some tools. We can do it at my house but not sure what you need. So, looking into when the next install will be and where.
Next, I would like to get springs to lower the front only. What would you recommend?
Also, I'm at 3000 miles and due for oil change. What do you recommend where in getting the change done and what oil to put in. I will probably do this after I return from the holidays in early Jan.
Greatly appreciate all your help.
BTW...awesome weather pics DaveWRX...they are sweet.

Do the oil change yourself. Put in something synthetic. I recommend Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec. However, if you want to order it online, GET AMSOIL. However, on the mainland I paid ~$80 for a case w/shipping. I imagine shipping to HI will be a LOT more.
I can't say enough good things about AMSOIL.
BTW, you can do the Turbo-back install by yourself, but it's good to have some help from at least one person to hold up the exhaust while you bolt it on. Otherwise you might end up calling someone at 8pm to come out and help you out........ like someone else I know

Pretty straight forward. The biggest beotch is getting the Bolts for the Downpipe off the turbo. I did mine at ~3,000 miles, and it wasn't too hard. The only other real issues are cutting the heatshield (I did it with my worthless dremel skills and it worked fine) getting the O2 sensor out of the stock exhaust and tight on the new one, and removing the stock exhaust from the mounting hangers. It will take some muscling, but really not that hard. Then just hook the new one back up.
With two guys it should only take roughly 2 hours if one guy knows what he is doing. If it's an install day at Dan's house, then it will take a good 4 hours

Recommend not using synthetic oil right away. Continue to use standard motor oil for another 3K miles. This will allow your rings to seat better and your engine to continue to break in. Just my opinion others would probably disagree. At your next oil change I'd probably go with Mobil 1.
With that said, I can help with an exhaust install. Will need to have an impact gun or some seriously strong dude to break loose the bolts at the base of the shocks to swap out the springs. BTW Why just fronts? H&R or Tein both make good springs. Really need to know your motivation though. Are you trying to get more aggressive suspension setup or is this purely just for looks?

F*ck it, I may do my springs this weekend also. We'll have to find a strut spring compressor, I think S2KJoey has one, I'll call him. Also we'll have to get or go to San's house for some Air Tools.
............And why the hell do you only want to lower the front? I would think that lowering just one end of the car would throw the suspension geometry off real bad?

I remember looking at AMSOIL at Ron's awhile back, now that I think about it. You may be fartehr ahead just ordering it online. I think he wanted $10/qt. Ouch.

Thanks for the great comments.
Ok...about the springs. My thing was to just lower the front end to decrease the wide open space from the tire to the frame. How much would it be for entire set of lower springs then? Just curious. This will be done later, not right away. Just getting some ideas and comments on it. Thanks anyway.

.... and you would Not want to change just the fronts!! talk about ***in some **** up!
there are spring sets available that will only lower the car a little, the Eibach Pro-Kit springs would be My recommendation. http://www.eibach.com/prokit.htm
