I got my license at 17. Had to work (dishwasher) to pay for insurance (on my mom's at the time). I drove my mom's car (82 Accord) until I graduated HS. I went to college and she gave me the car. Had it for a few years then it broke. I was given several hand me down junkers to get me from school and back. I had to pay for insurance/gas. I was just fortunate to even have wheels. All my money went into the car to keep it running...which sucked. I had to pay for college and all. Still paying for it now. Just in 2001 I bought my first new car (Civic) then traded for the STi in 03. Be blessed/thankful if you have parents that would buy you a new car...I am thankful that my mom/sister gave me their older cars when they got newer ones. Its rough out there and some people don't understand but I know most do.

first car I bought was a '84 sentra cpe at age 20.yeah 20. it sucked but i bought it. it must be nice to have this kind of priviledge given to you at any point in your life. right?

as for parents giving you/us things like cars or sending to college must also be nice. dont get me wrong,of course they sheltered and fed me and believe you me i am forever in their debt.

The sad thing is that these kids don't have the experience to really harness and use the power they are given. What's even more sick is that many of them crash and worst hurt others. Just like the guy who killed the teacher by the airport. My body shop guy said that kid nearly totalled his Prelude SH 3 times before he killed that lady. The guys parents just kept fixing his lude.

Now granted, when I was 15 I was driving a 68 Camaro, but it was a hand me down, rusted and had no AC. I gladly would've rather had an IROC or Hachi. Another thing, back in the day, RWD cars really helped you learn to control the slide. Nevertheless, these kids are just plain lucky and don't really appreciate the value of money. At least until they get a real job and try to buy an STI on their own.

By the way, I still have my 68 Camaro and 85 MR2.

Just my 2 cents,
LaR

Also, my first ride was a 82 Nissan 4 dr Stanza. No AC, sh*t brown. A perfect surf mobile.

I had my 1st car at 17. It was a 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300D. It was a GDM grey market car, but had no turbo. That's right, it had 88hp!! I had to floor it to get to freeway speeds and it sounded like a school bus.
