No, Pat, no! I can't recommend that movie to NASCAR fan or hater. I was really looking forward to it and went in with high expectations from the director but walked out of the theater twenty minutes into the movie. I liked the cliché-ridden, much-hyped "Top Gun", but couldn't stand the same treatment in "Days of Thunder". Two things that bugged me were the choppy editing of the racing sequences to give the impression of more action than in real life, and the as-written performance of Robert Duvall, as an A. J. Foyt-like team owner. His dialogue was so irritating I felt like backhanding him across his Copenhagen-filled cheeks.

I don't know if a really good NASCAR movie has ever been made. I'm don't like the Top Fuel class of drag racing but thought "Heart Like A Wheel" about Shirley Muldowney had a lot of heart, along with nice performances by Bonnie Bedelia and Beau Bridges.
