Question I just had my wisdom teeth pulled......

...and as they were yanking them out, I started to think.

With all the super technoloical advancements in the last 200 years, why has the field of dentistry not advanced much? Still the same old pliers and drill design. When is dentistry going to catch up with the rest of the world?

Damn this hurts.

Yeah, man. That's a pita! Yet, it was actually not a bad experience for me. The worst part was the shot. After I was numbed, I didn't feel a thing. Whamo! Out came 2 of 'em! A couple of hours later, I found myself hiking up Lanipo...

I had all 4 pulled one time!

And they used the hammer and the chisel. Talk about pain....oh man, I cringe just thinking about it

my story:

I went to the dentist for my usual checkup and he shows me the X-rays and says look at those lower wisdom teeth, they're just below the gums and I think I can get them out now and save you a trip to the oral surgen. He then shoots me up with novacain and takes a scalpal to my gums to expose the tooth. Half an hour later the tooth still isn't coming out and it's is just a bloody mess. My neck is aching because I've been bracing against the pull of the pliers. He finally gives up and I have to wait a month for the gums to heal before I go off to the oral surgen for the hammer and chisel technique.

I was lucky...I only had 3 wisdom teeth (maybe that explains a lot). One was popping up through the gum and it was yanked out by my dentist. A year later a oral surgeon took the other two out in about half an hour with little discomfort.

Funny how you were at a dentist's office today and I was as well...my damn face is still sore on the left side. Going to the dentist sucks...
