How much would you pay for...

How much would you pay for a 1997 M3 BMW? My friends dad is selling his M3 the car has a bunch of mods. He has two different cat backs one is on the car plus the stock exhaust, the car has a Dinan performance chip he also has everything to install a Powerdyne supercharger except one bracket that he can't find. The car has 30k miles and is in mint conidition and I mean mint like it still looks brand new back seats have never been sat in. The car is Techno violet metallic, 2dr, 5spd black leather with dark gray suede inserts interior is supposed to be special order or something. He is willing to sell this to me for a lot less that he would somebody else only because I have known him since I was 9yrs old so he considers me part of the family..Only bad thing is I would have to sell my STI....So who is in the market to buy a 2004 STI, 12.6k miles, gold Rota SDR's with RE750 tires, StopeTech SS lines, Project Mu pads, Stock wheels that will be black with 235/40 tires, Kenwood Hu, Concept door speakers (don't ask) JL audio DVC 10", Viper paging alarm with just about everything except remote start (wife likes to leave it in gear), spoiler-less trunk plus stock trunk and spoiler, tinted windows, totally debaged except grill I am sure I am missing something..Oil changed every 3k with Mobil one and I only use OEM filters OH it's the only STI on island with sidemarkers.

HEY...the Blue Book on it if it is in "excellent" condition is $17,750. Technically, I wouldn't even add in the price of the Dinan chip but I would give him perhaps 70% of the price for the powerdyne...roughly $2,250 for the supercharger parts I guess.

How much you wanna sell your STi trunk and spoiler for?

He said he'd sell it to me with all the parts for $18k but anybody else it'd be about $20k. I've looked twice on KBB and I got $18,215 maybe you did something different. And the spoiler is not for sell I keep all my stock parts but if I sell the STI the current trunk will be for sell.

Went on the website and got the price for "Private Party" sale. I think your price is the dealer retail price.

Sounds like $18K is a deal to me...make sure he didn't race or do anything crazy. Everything should be fine though...I'd hit it.

Most likely...still a good price either way because he's gonna give you all the powerdyne stuff and you just need to fabricate or find the right bracket.

Well he kinda hinted around that $18 is as low as he will go which is Blue Book value. He is supposed to send me some pictures and I'll try to post them when he does. Is 400hp possible with the exhaust, chip and supercharger?

no...

dinan's supercharger puts out 321hp...and it's thought to not even actually put out that much, but they say the dinan is the best supercharger out there for the E36 M3...exhaust- 5hp MAX...the stock system is pretty freeflowing as it is...chip (in this case, ecu reflash)- again the dinan one adds minimal hp...Jim Conforti software is the way to go...much better than dinan's...

and i'd think you'd need a new ecu reflash if you run the supercharger...gotta check on that...

if you reall y want big HP numbers, AA turbo kit is the way to go...but i dunno how you'll get tuning done here, as i have heard those kits are a little finicky...

with all that being said, a friend of mine had a M3 that made 288hp/268tq to the wheels with the Jim Conforti cam kit...and was still naturally aspirated...

at 30k the stock shocks are dead, and probably the rear shock mounts also...also check the rear trailing arm bushings...mine is still on stock shocks, with 55k, but still handles okay- would be awesome if i had a new suspension...my rear shock mounts died at 15k...i have an upgraded set i didnt install yet...

if your goal is power numbers, stick with your subie...but go and drive the car...handling is awesome, and power delivery is very smooth...

nice! i've seen 95 M3's with less than what yours offers go for 19k. STi's are sweet, but i've always been a fan of the boxy M3's

I am asking what KBB says it's worth which is $29.1 that includes... Stock STI trunk with spoiler, gold Rota SDRs with RE750 tires, stock wheels powder coated black with 235/40/17 tires, Kenwood KDC-X859 Cd/MP3 player, Concept speakers in the front and rear doors, two Memphis Audio apms, JL Audio 10" sub, tinted windows, Project Mu pads, StopTech SS lines, Motul 600RBF fluid. Only STI on island with sidemarker lights, 12.7k miles oil changed every 3k with Mobil 1 and OEM filters, Viper paging alarm with two remotes alarm has motion sensor, tilt sensor, prox sensor can have remote start Special-T can do it for $100.00. Stock wheels are still sibut I started to sand blast them and decide I'd just let Hi-Tech do it they can do it faster. All stickers have been removed and trunk is debaged only STI emblem is the one on the grill.
