how do u get 13.2 sec. in 1/4 mile

went to tracks on saturday and left pretty damn happy.

1st pass:
60 ft........1.787
1.8 et..... 8.475
1/8mph...80.81
1/4 ET.....13.435
1/4mph...99.34

my question is how do u get 13.2 seconds? i launched at about 5000 and slipped the clutch. near the end i had to shift to 5th, which takes longer for me than a 2-3 shift. should i be topping out in 4th or r u supposed to shift to 5th?

Unless you hit rev-limiter before the first set of cones, do not upshift. My understanding is that E.T. is calculated upon passing the first set of cones, MPH is calculated as the time it takes between the first and second set of cones at the finish. Could be wrong though

In an STi you have to shift in to 5th.

Just because you launch at a high RPM doesn't mean you will be faster. Sometimes you lose a lot of energy by over-slipping the clutch.

also, if you pump the hell out of the throttle and bounce the tach from almost 6000 to 3000, you can help get the turbo spooled up and boost will come on quicker in 1st. You'll have more power leaving the lights.

I used to have to shift into fifth also (not an STi), so I upped the rev limit. Now I can hit 112mph in fourth. Don't know how long it'll last before something gives up, though.
