I have vision hood dampers. their stainless and not marked at all. they are a bit pricey but about the same as tein ones but in a chrome finish. I'll have to just oil mine

The inside rod is definitey stainless but I think the outer ones are coated, I'm not sure... no rust on mines tho.

I bought a set of the Redline hood lifters from

I had them on for a couple years before I sold the car. The worked flawlessly. The price was right, great warranty on the stainless.

i was going to try those but i didn't like the way it mounted and it required drilling.

they look like a good alternative for bolt on ones though and they seem to lift the hood a little higher

Have Worx Tuning hood struts, have had them for 2.5 years now - no oiling no rust. They're also just plain black (you can take the brand label off) cylinders with stainless shafts - so they're pretty OEM looking if you like that sort of thing.

That's what I've been using for three years now. I like that you don't have to reach over them when working on the car since they are more vertically oriented than others. They look the same as they did on the first day as well.
