Hood Damper Owners

Is there a break in period for these? Does the lift get better as you use it over time?

What brand do you have?

There's no break in period. Well, one lift, but that hardly counts. Get the IXIZ ones. They're inexpensive and extremely well built, there's a big thread on NASIOC and everyone loves them. There are blingier ones out there, but none better.

Daniel and I

have the Endura Tech hood dampers...(Carbon Fiber). I did not notice a "break in" period. Mine are pressurized the same as when I put them on...and they are being used in conjunction with a Chargespeed CF Hood...no problems at all.

We ordered two sets together....kind of pricey..$160 ea shipped.

Mine went on fine...I still have to hold and not let it go as it goes up...they are pressurized quite a bit.

Dan, on the other hand, experienced issues with his set. He told me that after he installed his, he could not push his hood down...and indeed, either the piston was stuck or there was too much pressure. Regardless, they were replaced and we put the second set on without a hitch.

Did you buy some or are you looking to purchase some?

^^^^^^

Imo, the primary differences of a hood damper besides aesthetics is the pressure and stiffness of the dampers. Each has a different feel.

Jon, btw thanks for the referral! I went with the 7mb for $10.00/mo.

I've been dragging my a-s and still haven't picked up a set too. I was looking at either the GrimmSpeed ones or the Gruppe-S ones. I also seen those IXIZ one's too, and a lot of people seem very happy with them. Hahaha, I think the only reason I wouldn't get those is because I'd have a hard time pronouncing them when people asked which brand! Just kidding. I want a set too.

I've had my tein hood dampeners for about a year now, still have the same pressure and lift since the day I installed them.

just put a set on the XT today. so far so good. i have a set from GarageXTi that are specific to the forester. simple and effective. not sure if this is the best price around but here's some of the earlier mentioned ones from a vendor i like. the price is pretty good compared to most. https://www.xtpusa.com/catalog/ixizh...fts-p-315.html

i have also had good experiences with endura tech. while i did have some issues with the ones i had on my rs, their service is top notch. the set they were selling for the rs apparently wasn't strong enough to hold up that pig of a hood very well and after sending me a second set free of charge to make sure the first wasn't defective, they promptly sent me a full refund to include shipping and a handwritten apology letter. you get what you pay for i guess. Had the Teins for a year now, no problem. I just need to oil them periodically.
