Hi all.

As many of you know, I am currently deployed somewhere in Southwest Asia. I am part of the 3d Brigade Combat Team out of Fort Carson, CO and assigned to 2nd Squadron 9th Cavalry Regiment.

I'm making this thread as a way to give the local AWD enthusiast community a way to support your local soldiers, and to get an idea of what they are doing over here.

I'll pass on unclassified and non-sensitive information from this side, and I'd like to pass on your encouraging words and/or care packages (wink, wink) to the soldiers on this side.

I've asked pace to sticky this thread so it is easy for soldiers of my unit, and myself to find it, since we have very limited internet time.

If any of you are interested in sending care packages, or in helping out some of your dedicated great Americans on this side of the world, please PM me and I'll pass on the neccesary info.

I would post up our mailing address for everyone, but this is the internet, and although there isn't anyone in the awdpirates community I don't trust with it, I don't want to leave it out there for just anyone.

A word about 2-9 Cav: 2nd Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment is a forward combat unit primarily charged with finding the enemy and killing him. Our job here is a bit different, but it still conducts its traditional mission, just in different ways. The soldiers of this unit come from all walks of life and have almost every job imaginable in the Army. It is a great organization and I'm proud to serve with them.
