Personally,
I would never touch Perrin products because their customer service (lack of) after the sale sucked. Their products I owned were poorly engineered to boot. There are vendors that used to sell their products that now do not. Research, research, research.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely stop by sometime. I go to Costco often enough, so it's perfect.

Hey, for me the bottom line is that you've listened to us. Like I had said before, I know that a dyno is probably too risky a venture for anyone, let alone a fairly new company. I just think it's an awesome idea, but it's not my money on the line.
No one has ever come on this forum, since I've been a member, and took the time to ask us and then listen without trying the hard-sell.

We've enjoyed hearing the feedback and info you guys have given. i-club members here have been extremely helpful and it's much appreciated! Hopefully things work out where we'll be able to bring you some of the parts you guys want at prices that are fair.

Items
Maybe stock SS braided brake lines, brake pads, maybe different kinds of fluid. If you could get good deals on brake kits, Denso plugs, Sun Industry grounding kits (or any for that matter). Exhaust's for sure, suspension bits these items seem to be things I see alot of people are buying off the internet or at other shops. Maybe a good price on STI pink springs or the lateral link kits. And maybe different intercooler kits. Dunno just things I would like to see better pricing or equivalent pricing to other vendors. At least if you stocked the stuff some times people might be willing to pay a couple dollars more if they don't have to wait to have the product they want...
My $0.02 is that used bride seats would sell like hotcakes, that and hard to source JDM items "instock" or the ability to get them within a week or less. I would gladly pay a higher price for an item that I could see/inspect before buying....and get instant gratification in the form of taking home said product same-day. BUT, I think that small and or easy to install items would be a waste of your time to stock. Nobody here would pay a higher price for say a shift **** or blinker covers or strut tie bars etc. that they could get for cheaper on the internet and then install themselves.

We just started negotiations with Perrin to retail here in Honolulu, and our pricing will be affected by our initial buy-in (should we decide to do one). I gotta say that their initial offer to us is not so hot... if we don't get a lot of interest in these parts locally we might have to throw this one on the backburner.
I know I've read at least one negative comment about these parts from an owner here and we're trying to read more through your board to find problems ppl have been having with them.
How many of you would actually buy these parts if we decided to start bringing them in? And what specifically would you guys be interested in?
Other work being done also.
We'll continue to keep you guys updated as we look into things so we can get your feedback.

IMO, I would just bring in just the Perrin downpipe, uppipe, short ram, and endlinks. For me, those items are what "made" Perrin. The fit and finish of Perrin uppipe and downpipe are awesome and you can't really find a more beautifully crafted downpipe anywhere else. Price is very high for their uppipe/dp though but fitment is perfect. I know of at least one member on the board, Palaban, who doesn't have his WRX no more but has the downpipe. I do hear their newer products are very lackluster though, ie. catchcan.
A great way to check reviews of an item is through I-Club's review feature located on the top of this page, right below the I-Club logo.

We do now have a retail account for Tanabe products, and it seems they do offer their full line of coilovers in WRX and STi applications at competetive prices. The new Ultra Medallion also looks nice, but is quite pricey.
Here's where things stand so far with Perrin as we look into our options. If we don't make a large initial order, our pricing on this stuff isn't that good at all. We would not be able to compete with pricing you'd find from a larger company online. If we're looking to market only up-pipes and down-pipes, there's definitely not enough room for us to sell these parts down here. Basically, to secure pricing from Perrin that would be good enough for us to be able to sell these products to local Subie owners as a competetive distributor (with pricing that would be near online prices), we'd have to stock our store with a full range of Perrin product and move a good amount of it on a monthly basis.
So we really have to take a good look at the market and see if there's enough of an interest in the larger items Perrin offers as well, such as brake, fuel rail, and intercooler kits. Of course, Perrin offers products for other makes and models as well, so we'll try to take a look at what interest is in this stuff from SRT4, Mini, and Evo owners as well -- but we're sure that the lion's share of enthusiast owners lies in the Subie crowd.
We'd like to hear from you guys if you're really interested in this stuff... with examples of the parts you'd want to buy (realistically
).

I already bought a Perrin Downpipe, and it looks great, nice chrome finish. It is a dual dump DP. No problems so far and it hooks up to the stock exhaust nicely. I think this will be a hot seller not only because it looks and performs great, because it is one of those downpipes that get rids of both your dp cat and your 2nd cat for the STi.
Another big company is Borla. They make the most quietest cat back on the market. For many people who want to stay quiet and gain performance.
Seriously, the main things you want to look for in an exaust are:
looks, sound, quality of craftmanship, & fitment.
Go stainless and mandrel bent and you can't go wrong.

Did you try SPT (australia), they seem to be looking for vendors here in Hawaii.
Another crazy idea about the dino, and then I will never mention it again. What about a 2 wheel dino. I'm sure it will not work, but just entertain the idea.
If you have a 2 wheel dino, you could measure the torque, HP, etc of just the front or rear of the WRX. Since we know that the power split is 35% front and 65% rear, therefore we can mathmatically calculate the total torque, HP, etc.. for the entire car. Anyone want to throw in their $0.02?
Even if it is not all that accurate, many people just want to know how much HP and torque they will gain with a modification.
Could you tune with this kind of set up?
Will it ruin the car even though you try to match the resistance of the dino machine with the non dino spinning aparatus?

I know it sounds like a Perrin contract won't be in the near future, but if you got it and were able to get in their new dual outlet catback in the next few weeks, and could beat $680, I'd more than likely get it.

The shop will be closed from 11/3-8 while we're away at SEMA, fyi.
