Ha ha ha...somehow I got a fast time at Auto-X

My first time at Auto-X in more than 2 years.

Final Times
http://www.cincyscca.com/2008/pe2-4-06-08_fin.htm

PAX
http://www.cincyscca.com/2008/pe2-4-06-08_pax.htm

I don't get how I did a 45 second first run and the rest of the runs went to hell. I also had a crapload of re-runs...I think all in all I went around the course 8-9 times for various reasons. Almost ran out of gas...cooked the brakes...and the tires started to give up. I'm not even sure when my first run was because they kept red flagging my butt.

I can't believe I was fastest PAX time of all Subaru's...I'm gonna frame this as my greatest car accomplishment. Well, until they figure out my times are wrong.

P.S. the sad thing is that even though I ran a personal best finish...I still didn't get a trophy as I was 3rd in class behind two awesomely driven Camaros on R-compounds. At least I beat the Magnum on r-compounds

Wow Blake very nice! That is a great time considering you did not drive in years! But what the heck happened on your other runs??? BTW Camaro's on R-comps are hard to beat.

Competition is fierce over here...not many Suby's came out but I hear there are a lot more that run.

I think my other times are probably the red flags...well at least those 2 really slow ones.

I did get slower as the day wore on as I was doing run after run (no break) because of the red flags. My car isn't really built up fully yet...my brakes were cooked and I still had 2 runs to do. I think if anything I will ask them to let me run the make ups at the end rather than just throwing me right back around. I'm just happy I beat at least one guy in my class running R-comps.

There's a few guys in Corvettes and Miatas that are REALLY FAST...like scary fast.

There was an Evo that looked slow but actually turned in super fast times. It was almost like AWD was making it look easier but he was really close in times to the guys that looked like they were hauling *****.

There was one guy in a Corvette...frickin meanest sounding one I've heard. He's like gone to nationals 8 times and wins everything. He was awesome...I was amazed watching his runs.

There was also this one Mazdaspeed Miata...it hauled *** on the short straight.

Last thing:

Anyone know about the helmet ratings? Which 3 ratings are legal for SCCA?

SA2005 M2005 and SA2000?

I can't find a cheap good helmet...probably want full face but might buy a open face because of comfort and price.

any Snell 2005 is ok (SA2005 or M2005). some helmets also with FIA ratings are acceptable, but i can't remember what they are. if i remember i'll check the rule book at the next auto-x event this sunday. btw, if you get a SA2005 helmet it'll be good for racing school next year.

Can't afford racing school but might be able to swing Evolution School http://autocross.com/evolution/modules/news/

or Performance Driving Experience http://www.cincyscca.com/2008/Cincy%...%20PDX2-22.htm

Ever since I started using this 4 MP camera I can't take pictures of my car dirty because it actually shows the dirt. That and I have the wrong frickin date thingamabob.

P.S. That red Z4 behind me ran really well.
