General thoughts on 1998-2002 Foresters?

My brother's gf is looking into 1st gen Foresters. Namely, she is concerned with reliability, problem areas, replacement parts cost/availability, etc.

****, if you have any of these available, pm me. I think she is looking to spend no more than $10k.

Thanks.

Mark,
Traveling for business 3-8 times a month has given me the opportunity to rent many cars. And although avis only uses new cars, here's my opinion on the forrester. It's a great car. I actually like it over the sedan. The motor has plenty of power, and handling is in typical subaru fashion, much better than any SUV that i have been given by Avis.
Hopefully Brian can post in here, he and his wife own 2 forresters, and i believe one is a first or 2nd gen one.
