Foresters Only

Just wanted to make an announcement for the NorCal/SoCal Foresters.

We are having a meet and drive, with two different groups for the different driving styles. The meet will be starting in Novato, CA at 8am on Saturday the 23rd of April. The touring group will be stopping at 4 different wineries during the estimated 6.5 hours of driving. The 'spirited drive' group will be stopping only twice at wineries. At the end of the drive, there will be a BBQ in a park located near Santa Rosa, CA.

To participate, you need to sign up on the 'other' board, let us know no later than Thursday, and be driving a Forester. There are some neat prizes donated generously by Subiegal and Kartboy, as well as some prizes that I've picked up for different categories.

I would suggest only TWO people per car, since the drive will not be conducive to happy back seat passengers.

Great Idea...

You have my permission to go ahead and pursue that. All you have to do is plan and execute a nice meet and drive.

Route planning - expect to use around 5 tanks of gas. At the price of gas for the XT, and some for a friend with a WRX (who did timing for the spirited drive), it can become expensive.

Park pass planning - expect to spend some time and money to secure a parks pass for your group in order to secure the BBQ area of your local park.

Food planning - expect to spend a couple of hundred bucks here. Vegetable party platters, tri-tip, ribs, vegetarian foods, maybe a wild salmon fresh off the boat (Bodega Bay)@~70 bucks.

Event coordination - making sure everyone makes it where they're supposed to go in an orderly fashion.

Since I'm doing this only with the help of Pleiad7, and two drivers, we have chosen to make this only for the Foresters. This way we limit our costs. Otherwise, we'd have invited EVERYONE...

with reading this thread it brought back to my attention with the whole "segregation" deal as what happened with the old skool gc8 meet.

other then that, good luck with your meet.

It may look like "segregation," but that is certainly not our intention. As Roo pointed out, we're not charging for this event, and all costs are out of pocket for us. If we invited everyone, it would simply be prohibitive in terms of cost.
