GAS consupmtion SURVEY..
My best pump gas drag strip performances have been with shell, 76 and tesoro 92. All the other brands cause my car to pull a buttload of timing. Especially Chevron.
I usually fill with Shell though as the station close to my house seems to charge a little less than other stations.

didn't know your car was tuned using 96 Octane...that can get pretty expensive here...hope the Xylene mixture helps...
So, since arriving here, you've been running 92 Octane with your 96 Octane tune? How's that working? Sounds kind of scary man...
BTW...I use Shell 92 V-Power as well...

walter, not trying to put you down but for those who dont know him or his car, he has a rs, not a wrx. so i think its fine for him to use 89 octane.

I have had a 64 impala for 10 years now. When i first bought it i used to use shell. Then i noticed i would get sh#t stuck in my fuel filter and bog out when i stepped on it. Over the years i noticed that it was the gas not the carb. Anyways to make a long story short it happened numerous times with shell and chevron gas. But whenever i used 76 it would never happen. It also seemed like 76 would just burn cleaner. IMO of course
So ever since i realized that, i have always used 76 for all of my cars. And i always put 91 in my STi. But that comparison in mileage is very interesting. I will have to try shell V-power.
Later guys

I think the fuel differece between Shell and Chevron has to do with fuel stability.
It may be the same octine rating but the fuel performs differentlly under wot with
a superchrged engine. Thats my guess on it.
If we take our fuel rating and use the rating they use in Austrailia we would be near 87-89 PON.

Shell V-Power is the only gas that ever went into my wrx, Oh and in the Z06 too, even though the vette didn't require premium gas can you believe it ? A car rated at 385hp runs fine on 87.

for me i had problems with chevron. my old camry is sensitive to certain gases. chevron clogged my lines and filter. changed my filter three times in two weeks. third time i used tesoro and the car ran stronger with no stall, no problems instantly. i figured maybe changing all those filters just cleaned out the old debris at the bottom of the gas tank so i did a test with chevron again. PROBLEMS again...

... oh yeah just for a little more ground on my testimonial, i used to work at Lex brodies gas at kaneohe and this old guy i was helping ask me, "what kind of gas lex brodies sells?" i told that it was a good question. he said he retired from HPD as the machine maintenance dude (patrol cars and stuff like that). they had an account with chevron for their vehicles. the cars kept getting clogged fuel lines. he change accounts over to tesoro... like magic, no more clogged lines.
ain't Techron some kind of teflon substance, i don't know, i just heard from hear say.

Why does everyone seem to achieve 250+ miles per tank, except me? Ever since picked up my STi, I've been using Chevron. Even before modding my car, I only got an average of 180 miles per tank. Part of the reason is probably due to street driving--I hardly drive on the freeway because I live in town. At first, I thought everyone had crappy mileage like me, but now......I better get some things check out.

damn looks like i gotta try shell
