Forged Internals

Is there anyone on island that does forged internals? I really want to get this done to ensure that my engine can handle all of the power going to it with my new set-up. I would prefer not to have to wait until I get back to the mainland, but I will if I have to.

Nate

I can answer this. No. Well, at least, no one has the prototype of the EJ piston which is what you want. It sucks, but in this case, there are only a handful who have molded and perfected our piston.

For instance, well known Subaru machinists or tuners, like Quirt Crawford or Ron Williams both sell CP (Calvert not Crawford), but Quirts differ from Ron's in the dome shape and therefore static compression ratio. Ron's is higher than Quirts.

Place an order with one of those two, or another 'named' Subaru tuner and make sure they have them in stock, then just drop them in yourself. (Mike's back on the island. He'd surely help you out.)

I'll be here into December, but I think that I should be out of the USMC before January. Purdue starts Jan. 10th!

I think

unless you're going for crazy hp, your stock internals will be fine. Plenty making goofy power with stock internals. Even with a WRX, if you don't run stupid boost and cover the bases, you can still run around 300whp on pump fuel. You have a semi-closed block, and better pistons. But by all means, upgrade your internals if you feel the need. If I were going to do the internals, I'd probably do the block and heads at the same time.
