always considered getting an evo but never liked it mainly because of the interior looked cheap.
Just 1 of my many considerations.
you didn't part out did you?

Wassup Stacey,...
Think the old gang would be able to assist me in an uppipe install (shameless request) at my house???
Also,..still old members of DSMHawaii around but dont affiliate with that anymore,...some are still tinkering with their ole DSMs (still wish mine ran),..some moved on to Evos, and other to Subarus,...Just newer and better cars and just tired of fixing DSMs that although fast,.not as reliable,...

Sup Kev!!
I'll help w/the uppipe install anytime after THIS weekend. I know it's a long weekend and would be one of the best times to do an install.
I, however, HAVEN'T moved on to a newer or better car.......yet. Still got my fast, yet unreliable DSM (actually I have TWO now...ugh) so I'll be working on at least one of them this weekend.
I'm actually gonna go off on a tangent here, so please bear with me....
I can't actually characterize a 1G DSM as "unreliable"....in the first place, it's MINIMALLY 11 years old. Both of mine are 14, nearly 15 years old. The 4G63 motor is a strong platform, but most of the specimens that are still around today have been "ridden hard and put away wet". The engineering that went into some of the systems IS a bit weird and not quite thought out completely IMHO.
The aftermarket for these cars didn't exist 10 years ago, at least, not like it does now, and the majority of the tuners that were working with these cars back then, although hardcore, were laying groundwork that would eventually trickle down (it's still trickling today) to the rest of us. My "youngest" DSM has 140423 miles on it...my "oldest" is pushing 200,000. I think the "unreliable" label comes from people like you and I that get frustrated when the cars that we have worked on so hard to build up break in bad ways. It's time consuming, expensive and in some cases (like your red AWD) heartbreaking.
In 2015, a 2000 model car may seem unreliable as well, if it hasn't been taken care of.
New car is in the works though....it's a surprise!! WOOHOO!!
Lemme know when you are gonna do the uppipe install...I'll definitely try to be there!!!

i don't understand that, it's a fricken evo...let it rip...someone clarify this, if it's true...maybe that's why you hardly see evo's at auto x(well the times i've been there)...

I've heard similar things regarding mitsubishi's as well... however they cannot void your warranty unless they can prove without a shadow of a doubt that auto-x caused problem or your modification to your car caused the problem.
for god sakes... they test the car at a rolling start through a slalm (sp?) and they also do 0-60 and 1/4 mile times... why can we not see for ourselves!
why make the car if you cannot enjoy it!
