Final Outcome
I never had a chance to post the final outcome of the car due to my deployment to Iraq.
Anyhow the total cost to repair the STI came out to $14,xxx with the value of the car right around 20k. The body shop was ready to total the car out but needed the insurance (USAA) to approve it. Well USAA came in saw the damage, saw the mileage (16,xxx) and decided since the car was only 3 years old with low mileage that it would be in their best interest to repair the car. WTF this sucks..........
Later that day at the Kapolei meet I start talking with Brandon and he advised me that I could take the money being used to repair the car and not have the car repaired. Fast forward to that following monday morning I am on the phone with the adjuster informing them on what I would like to do. At first they were a bit against it since I still owed on the car and that they owed an obligation to the lien holder to fix the car. I then explained to them that the money estimated to fix my car was close to what I owed on the car and that I would use it to pay off the note. Finally they agreed to cut the check to the bank and myself.
In the end I basically was able to keep all my mods and more importantly everything I need to swap this monster into the GC on someone else's dime.

Dang I havent been on the boards for awhile and first thing I see is Death of an STi... Im glad everyone is ok and your GC is gonna be sick! I wish I could afford a new motor!! Hope everything else is good I miss all the Hawaii peeps!
