has anyone on here messed around with the Differential in the STi??? I did it once and tripped out cause it started clicking at low speeds. I read the manual and it said its supposed to click at under 15mph...
what setting do you all recommend if I decide to mess around with the diff?

the dccd is great, but its really hard to be able to use it to its full benefit here. i have played with all the settings and one of my favorites is one step before lock. that and 65/35 is great.
you really can not enjoy these settings unless you are driving very hard on a "secure" road. if not you are just asking for trouble. the reason why i like the manual settings is because its more predictable for me. sometimes in auto it gives me too much "moderation" - especially in the corners(upon exit)
when i 1st bought this car all i drove in was automatic- now that i've had some time in this car i am falling in love with it all over again- but keep in mind that in the manual settings it requires a little more attention on your part- especially if you come into a corner too hot- it will break loose(if 65/35) or some major understeer (if front biased) since our cars tend to understeer a little try setting in 65/35 for starters.
one thing i noticed is that my driving style changes a bit depending on each setting. (not all six! just the 2 i mentioned)
hope that helps a little.

i would leave it on auto for around town and espcially when driving on wet/slippery surfaces. but if its dry, i think either the 1st, or 2nd second yellow arrow (from the top) is good. i have yet to do some trial runs at the track with different settings. i also heard that if you put it on green (30/70 i think) you can do some cool donuts :-)

flyguy- actually i wasn't trying to be a search police or research deputy like Jon
- i actually posted my own quote because i was too lazy to re-type it-
maybe one day we can meet up and talk about this matter more. maybe Chris(waialae subaru) can organize an event at HRP that utilzes our AWD cars to its full potential-

I think I have probably played with DCCD more than any other person around in Indy, or Hawaii. Just leave it on Auto. There is almost no benifit to having it on any other setting. Mike (18hr) has messed with it at HRP and put down better lap times with the DCCD on and he is a goo driver. I just tried it again at rally X and DCCD on a manual setting slowed my times down substancialy. Donuts and such work best with DCCD in auto. I think the only reason to go for manual DCCD is a little better predictability, and not having the diff lock when you were not expecting it to.
