CV boot problem

well we did my coilovers today and i was very happy till i got home and went to put my stock rims back on. on the passengers side, the wheel well was covered in grease. i traced it to the cv boot which has a hole in it. so, i guess it needs to be replaced. anyone have experience with this? how much does it cost for a replacement and where can i get one? i'm gonna try to get the insurance co to fix it since it "might" have been from the acciedent, but if it doesn't work i will need one asap. thanx in advance for the help. They aren't that hard to change you can get a boot at any parts store just don't get the two piece boot. The only bad thing about changeing them is you can get really dirty. I know of somebody who had the dealership replace theirs for free. His was torn while his springs were being installed at his house.

well i had a feeling it was gonna happen since when we loosened that sied there was an *** load of tension on the spring for some reason and it just got lodged right on the cv boot. well live and learn. i'm going to call in sick i guess tomorow and go try and get it done if the insurance doesn't cover it. my car goes into the shop on tues to get the body work done so hopefully i will have everything fixed and my car back in better than new shape by next week or the week after. i'm gonna miss my car but the beater should serve me well.

You had that problem because you probably only jacked up the one side you were working on right..You had the tension of the sway bar pushing up the side you were working on.

we had the other side jacked up too. and we tried jacking up the other tire to lessen the load. nothing worked.
