Thanks for the vid. Did you see how that top nut was about to walk itself off of it's stud when he was revving the motor with the cutout open?

to illustrate the potential, there's a better unit out there. There's a post on Nasico about it.

Basically,
it's like a throttle body in your downpipe. When you open it, effectively you get an exhaust that's "open" from the downpipe. That is, the exhaust can exit the downpipe without having to deal with the more restrictive exhaust. When you close it, you have a regular exhaust.

It's redirected back through the regular exhaust...

I don't like the way the exhaust flows, while it's closed.

I still think this is a better idea. http://www.fujitsubo.co.jp/mc-prod/p...p3?id=00000083 But I'm not to hot about the way it flows either. I think getting a GOOD DP & exhaust is the best idea.

The flow in the dead leg wouldn't reverse like that. It would just sit there with a net velocity of zero while flow out the normal exhaust would continue. There would probably be a slight decrease in flow out the main exhaust due to the boundry condition created by the "dead leg" but nothing measureable.
edit: I also agree that a good TBE is still better.
