Custom Under Seat Subs...

Pics of RAMMAUDIO (Found on NASIOC)...very nice design but pricey...located near bottom of post...check it out...

This is not my setup...just to clear it up...

Well, my car is in the shop...for the good though...

I am having custom fiberglass enclosures built under my two front seats...1 for sure under the passenger...hopefully, a second can be fit under the drivers as well...Probably going to go with AlumaPro subs...

I'll keep everyone posted...if they come out good, I'll see what kind of pricing I can get for I-Club members...

There is a person on NASIOC that is selling these for like $599ea plus shipping...really nice...I'm hoping the price tag on mine will come out less...but I will just be happy to recoup my trunk space again and keep my center of gravity lower as well.

My last two vehicles (F150 Lariat and Tundra LTD) both had 10" Phoenix Gold XMAX subs under the center console (I built them out of MDF and fiberglass...) Those two trucks sounded awesome...there is nothing like bringing the soundstage up front with subs in the cab...unfortunately, I no longer have the time nor facilities to do such projects (Use to be a Technology Instructor with a full fabrication and computer lab back in Alaska). So to the pro's my vehicle will now go...

I can't imagine a real sub fitting under the seats. My stock seats weren't that high, and by the time you figure the mdf thickness of the enclosure and the excursion of the sub, it's too small IMHO. Would have to be a really shallow sub. The difference between stock seats and aftermarket Bride Pros wasn't too much (space-wise). I'm lucky my amps fit, let alone subs.

It has been done already with good results...I don't need to be heard a block down the road to enjoy high quality sound...not trying to impress anyone or win a sound off...

I just enjoy my music and video's...I seem to spend a lot of time in my car...

My golf clubs are tired of sharing space with a box in my trunk...let alone trying to piece together a puzzle everytime I pick up the kids with their 50lb. backpacks...

Crossing my fingers...hope the alumapro's fit...

probably 2 8's would be loud enough, or even like 2 low quality 10" subs like a jl w0 since the sub inside the cab. its loud for you, not for everyone else. good luck, that sounds like a good project though.

I thought about under seat subs, but like I said, there isn't much room. I put my amps there instead, as there are forced air ducts pointing right at them. I also like to remove my subs for track events as they are pretty heavy.

^^^Yeah, I hear ya...

Luckily, many of todays 10" subs require very little space (sealed)...my concern is the depth clearance, which I am sure you are talking about...it is a good place for the amps though...I just need my trunk back...

I may have to settle for 8's like Dale mentioned but it will be ok...The AlumaPro's sound pretty nice in a tight space...

A couple of things. Alumapro doesn't make an 8" sub (according to their site). It's not the volume of the box I'd worry about, rather the depth of the sub. Even if the sub is shallow, say 4", you have to add the excursion of the surround, at least 1", and then the fiberglass/mdf or whatever the enclosure is made of, at least 1" as you want the voicecoil vent to actually vent. That's a minimum 6" and I'm being generous on you finding a 4" sub depth. My 10" Eclispe are 5.25". Also, I'd look at some different subs. The Alumapro subs don't have a very low free air resonance.

Shouldn't have talked for my installer...

Wasn't really thinking about 8's but thought I would mention it should the 10's not fit...hmm, no 8's on the AlumaPro's...oh well, I'm sure he will have another solution should the 10's not fit...but then again, he had it all day yesterday and did not call me at all...so he must be having some sort of luck...here I go again talking for him...

I'm going to stop now and report on the final product, should there even be one...I'll find out this afternoon...

Brent

Good luck on ur project Brent. If anything, you can always buy those low frequency vibration bass thing. It works like a sub, sorta, but it's more like feel the bass rather than hearing it.
