man, I hope the insurance company gives you a break on this one. I wouldn't want to get that fixed from the looks of it. I think it'd be better to get it totaled, don't you?

Hope everything works out smoothly for you

Damn dude, sorry to hear about your car, I'd push for a total. The car will never drive the same after a crash like that. Glad that you're ok though, looks like the car protected the cockpit well, good to know for the rest of us I'm sure. Good luck and just be thankful your still breathing and have all YOUR original equipment.

Not to be a downer....... but I wouldn't drive it if it got fixed. It would never be the same.

Sucks to see a good WRX good, but maybe others will see this and be more careful.

also, even if someone did fix it, and it looked and drove half-way decent, ... the value of the car after a wreck like that goes waaayy down.

really sorry to hear about your car, but vehicles are replaceable, people are not.

I agree that you shouldn't try to fix it. It'll never be as good as a non-wrecked car...you'll end up with mysterious unfixable problems down the road ie alignment problems, etc.
not to mention the possibility of an unscrupulous shop doing a half-assed job of repair (happened to two of my friends)

I'm going to add my two cents worth. First, sorry about the accident. I have a wrb wrx too, and I squirmed when I saw your pic. Glad to hear you're alright! Next, like others have said, push for the payoff. The car will never drive the same. The main thing is the structural integrity of the car is fubar now. And like someone else mentioned, the value of the car goes way down. If you had to sell it later, it would be tough. Good luck on how things go.

Glad to hear that you're alright. Sucks about the car. I'd aim to get it totaled, too. My wife bashed up our old car, and we got it fixed, however when I traded it in for my WRX after the crash, I was offered $3,000 less than prior to the crash. Plus, that's a lot less than I would have gotten for having it totaled. Push to have it totaled.

thats true bout harder to sell i guess. however i was suprised to find out that "never be the same" is a misconseption O_o. i was told that they can drill out the welds and replace parts of the frame that were damaged....or something like that. they said it could be brought back to new "showroom" condition and if this is true they awesome. however if we cant get it fixed that way or at all im really interested in a jetta wagon 1.8t (seriously) thanks for the support guys! drive safe

a body shop can replace structural peices of the car but the cheapest way to do it is splice it in not replace the entire panel everyone is right your car will never feel the same but its not like you can tell the insurance company to total your car, when the adjuster apraises the damage it has to equal a cirtain percent of the blue book value to total it

well here is the thread just for those who never seen it. http://forumshawaii.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=23479

did your car really catch on fire? daym thats scary!!!!! imagine what could of happend. also if it did where did the fire start from?

i'd be scared of the totall on such a new car. sometimes if you owe more than the blue book that the insurance gives you may end up paying out of pocket. you better find out before you jump the gun. also if you are goin to totall it check if you got gap insurance.
