A/C repair

Im about to pickup a beater and owner says he can hear the compressor click on, but air is blowing warm. He says it might need to be recharged. Does anyone know of any reputable A/C shops? Thanks in advance.

As long as the system has never been opened you can recharge it yourself no problem. If the system has been exposed to the outside moisture you should have a shop recharge it for $50, they will use a vaccum pump and dry out the lines before refilling.

Even if it is an r12 system just get the conversion fittings and recharge it.. If he says the compressor switches on then there is still pressure in the system and just needs to be recharged

You need to get all the old oil out of the system. Most of it will be in the compressor and receiver/dryer. You will need to replace the receiver/dryer anyway, when it comes to R12/R134 conversion. Because the oils are different.

what kind of car? if the AC is blowing warm then there must be a leak if there is refrigerant present. AC shop will probably tell you it's the expansion valve and you'll need to have the system evacuated and recharged after the part is replaced.
