Bugeye Down.

this morning, at 12:55 am i was in an accident. Personally, i am ok. no injuries.. thank god.

however, i cannot say the same for the bugeye.

it all happened thanks to a Black, 4 door, honda civic. thanks civic. thanks for stopping too.

when going west, on the Aiea on-ramp of the Moanalua freeway- (basically right near salt lake) a the honda decided to f&ck me over. he cut in-front of me, forcing me to dodge left to avoid him. i had no option to go right.. if i did i would have hit his rear-quarter panel.. he was in the lane to my right. when i swerved left.. there was not much room.. but i avoided him.. however the car over-steered.. and there was no saving it. i say this with years of track experience.. i was going to spin.

the car hit the front left fender on the guard rail, bounced, hit the right rear on the other side of the road.. and that civic driving a$$hole slowed to a stop.. then squealed his tires.. and fled the scene.

i had no chance to get his plates.. and it was dark. fortunately there was a cop- right above us- on the on-ramp over head.. he heard the accident.. and was on the scene immediately.. before i got off the phone with 911.

THE DAMAGE: well, the damage has yet to be professionally looked at by the claims adjuster (this just happened an hour ago..)

however in my experience with dealing with cars.. the suby may be a gonner..

one wheel was completely snapped on all of the spokes.. the hub was free spinning.. 3 others bent. im guessing this: 3 bent/broken struts, 2 bent broken sways, 3 bent broken axles, hubs, bearings etc.. 2 new brake rotors, calipers.. lines etc. 1 whole new bumper, bumper frame and assembly.. and possibly a bent Frame, and bent Sub-frame.

im guessing if the frame is bent she's gone.

here's a blurry nighttime cell phone pic of the broken wheel..

this gives you an idea of the damage.. you can clearly see those spokes arent attached to anything

the sad an unfortunate thing is the after-market investment i've made in my bugeye. its substantial. any of you guys who know me know that ive done a few things.. and i may never get them back.

if the insurance company allows me to harvest my parts if the car is totaled.. i'll be looking for a few friends to help me do a uninstall and salvage day.. any friends would be appreciated greatly. i know i havent been to a meet in a while.. my life's been busy.. and im starting a new job etc.
Also- i need some advice from you locals-
ive lived here for 8 months now, but ive never had to deal with any body shops. they gave me an option on where to take the car, and here's what they offered me:

"Classic body"

"Nishi's"

"Korada"(spelling?)

"Okas"

"Tony Group"

do any of you have experience or recommendations with any of these? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks guys.. i'll keep ya updated with the estimates and other info..

also might have some parts to sell.

- Milo

Bran808's family is Oka's.. he's a member here and I highly recommend them. I'll be having some work done there soon as well.

I don't recognize the rest from a 'discussion' point of view, but I think you'd be fine going to Oka's, friendly, professional, and (since I'm paying out of pocket, pricing is better than I would've expected)

Just my 2c.

Sucks man...should've just hit the dude.

I have reserved myself to the fact that if I can't avoid an accident then I am hitting the person that caused it so they will stop or at least will have damage as well.

Too many dumbasses on the road these days...they need to make it harder to get a license.

A friend of mine took his 07 Audi there for some body work. You would never guess the car was in an accident. Highly recommended. I have heard that Classic bodywork does good work, however I havent seen anything, just heard the name thrown around.

UPDATE

Thanks so much for all of the recommendations from everyone.. i really appreciate it.

i've decided to go with Brandon.. at Okas Auto body. Brandon was the only one on the phone who was knowledgeable about Subaru's at all.. i called all of the shops.. and not only did Brandon know his stuff, he's part of the i-Club community. i'm in good hands.

Brandon and I met today and started looking at the car.. and the final estimate should be ready next week sometime.

im optimistic.. but i think it may be totaled out.

here are some updated pics i took today.. sorry for the craptastic 2mp cell phone pics.

well, those wheels are a carbon copy of the OZ WRC rally rim designed for prodrive, these are the Tarmac II by rota. before anyone goes rota bashing.. these are the strongest wheels ive ever dealt with.. they've taken more abuse than you could imagine. when you put a wheel into a guard rail at 65, you can expect it to look pretty bad.
