Boost Controller
Dave stick with the factory boost controller. You'd be surprised how good it is and what it can do. However when you are getting to higher boost levels over ~20psi, thats when I'd look for something else.
There is no point in ripping something out that works fine for it's intended application.

While you can run an EBC or MBC with ECUTEK it's not require. I have a MBC you are welcome to play with after you get your stuff installed. With the MBC it is easy to go back to stock, but with an EBC it's not so easy. You may want to talk to Shiv about this when you place your order.
Just a comment about your plan for upgrading. Keep in mind that the ECUTECK reflash requires you to send in your ECU (unless you have a spare sitting around). Since each flash is specific to a Stage you will have to send it in each time you upgrade. You may also get charged a reflash fee. Again something you should probably talk to Shiv about.

Edit: Yeah looks like the XEDE lets you remap at anytime. I am going to go with that then. They have all the maps for the different stages and some other settings. Shiv also mentioned that they have a map to adjust for the APS FMIC with its Intake so I am good. Just gotta talk everyone into some install days once it all gets here and provide lotsa food and bath house girls for everyone to enjoy. =)
Obviously Sean and I have differing opinions... But see what the factory boost control will do for you now. You can always borrow someones MBC if you want to. Or make one for cheap. On top of that, theres no point in buying a $400 EBC(elec. boost controller) only to find out that it wasn't really needed.
Like I did.

I would think a manual boost controller costing $50-80 wouldn't be a bad investment.
Although I haven't riden in or driven a car with the ECUTEK, ... I would still think a MBC would help control boost better, that was my point.
