people think that it's my BOV that makes my car the way it sound

it sounds like this:

coo coo cookoo pshhhhhh

it's actually a combination of my intake, FMIC and bov

usually the flutter is exactly what brandy said.

Yup, Worx bov here too. It's very tame and much more subtle than most of the bovs I hear on the street. I normally run mine at 50% atmosphere.

Ahh...makes sense...

I found this on a search: Windingroad's explanation for the "Anti Lag" makes a lot of sense.

"that flutter sound is pressure bouncing back and forth from the turbo to the bov. very bad for the turbo because that flutter constantly hits the fins with pressure.

drifters will do this because they are constantly on and off the gas. and by tightening their bov, they don't release boost and not waste time building up boost again."

It's not that I did not believe what responders to this thread were saying...I was wondering why JDM cars would do this if it was bad for their turbo's...I guess the answer is, they don't care due to sponsorship I am sure...they just don't want to lag between shifts....

So, I guess, we can have that sound if we drift, are sponsored, and don't mine replacing our turbo's often...

Nah...drifters are a different breed...

I've been watching drifting for a bit...a lot of good drifter don't like turbo's due to the inherent nature of the beast...boost - on and off...uncontrolled tire spin...

I don't think there is a "one to get" bov...individual tastes and sounds of the bov come into play. You want a Whoooosh, Pitcheeeee, or whistle...I personally have the APS Dual vent (Recirculates the air back into the intake unless you hit high boost, then it vents to both atmosphere and recirc.) Not that loud, but it is noticable at high boost levels...

for most of us drivers, bov's are just pacifying our animal needs of hearing our engines work as we shift...like everyone has said, for the best results, stick with the stock recirculation valve...go to one of the meets and check out the different bov's people have...there are plenty here on the Island...

I have the HKS Type RFL. and yes it is R-F-L. I just installed it. I put 4 washers in it becasue that was reccomended. It makes the fluttering sound unless you rev over 4000 which makes enough boost to release the BOV. So from what I have read, I am doing damage to my turbo. I thought that the sound was the pressure comming out of the waste gate. If thats not the case where is the pressure going since the BOV is not releasing below 4k rpm?

Hrmm I get the fluttering sound when I'm not in boost but accelerate slightly (95% of normal driving). I'm not worried about anything under 1psi hitting the fins. Once I reach 1psi or more it makes a full blow off sound. By the way, I have a TurboSmart BOV.
