I had few speeding ticket before but they never find out. I guess they never look at your record till you get into an accident.

 

Actually insurance companys check annually to see if their policy holders have gotten any tickets, etc. Some companys check more than once per year, so just depends on the company. A few months ago when I got a ticket I called my aunt who works at Geico, and shes the one who informed me about this. Sucks, but if no one told their insurance companys that they got points on their license, then the insurance companys would be loosing out on ALOT of money!

 

Nah, I got nailed by a cop who was tailing me on Kam Hwy in Pearl City going past Security Alarm Shop at 1AM. He didn't have the blue lights on and came out of nowhere and started to tail me... no other cars were around and there were two other lanes to choose from so I thought it was someone making trouble and I slowly sped up to put some distance between me and the car in back. He kept speeding up too. Once I hit 50 mph he hit the blues and pulled me over by Cutter Ford... BOY was I surprised. He was too close to my rear for me to even recognize it was a police car, AND I was driving a plain 280ZX that I had back in the day and had not modified visually.

He was cool and all when he talked to me and I tried to explain to him why I had sped up, he told me just to tell the judge about it and most likely he'd let me go, but that he had to give me the ticket anyway. I tried telling the judge about how his lights were off and explained the situation wherein noone was around and I was trying to put some distance between myself and the car behind me for my own safety - the judge laughed at me and told me I didn't have to speed up and could have done something else instead like change lanes. He was right of course, but still, that's pretty unfair to be pressed into that kind of situation.

I appealed, and the next time I went to court the 2nd judge looked over everything and dismissed the case. He also apologized for wasting all my time.

90% of the cops on the road are cool, but the bottom line is they can pretty much nail you at any time if they want to. In the end it all comes down to what the judge says.
