The left lane is for passing. That means if the lane is open in front of you and there is a car behind you who wants to travel faster than you, get out of the way, you dont own the road.

Not only that but he swerved a few times to block the guy from passing on the right.

You hit the nail on the head. I'm from a country where undertaking is illegal so you drive in the slowest available lane....

I Hate the fastest lane 70 mph er's

In The Netherlands if you ride the left lane you get a ticket. Also passing on the right side is illegal. Wish we could adopt some of these laws.

btw, passing on the right side is illegal here in the states...

and causing others to drive slow is illegal to, to a certain degree.. if there are more than 5 people in a line behind u on a one lane road, u are suppose to pull over and allow the others to pass.. the only reason i know that i cause i live in a place with only one lane roads, and very slow drivers lol

sadly i use to be one of those people who just coasted in the left lane. Then I lived in Germany for a while and I finally learned how to drive. The Germans take the left lane thing very seriously

it USED to be the rule the passing on the right is illegal..i belive most states have repealed that law though.

In colorado, they've figured something out. I think it's worked pretty well from what I've heard. If you're driving in the fast lane and aren't passing anybody (just cruising with nobody around mostly) you get a ticket. They call it the "left-lane law." Linky

Maybe 'progressive' california lawmakers should take a look into it
