I hope it's something where more people can get excited about points instead of just run-offs. This should be a fun season.
And it just gave Sigterm another month to get busy! Lol.

New points awarding could go either way. If someone is really dominant, it could be a runaway early on.
If folks are close in car prep and skill, points can be close with any system. Just ask Davin and myself from last season. After 12 events, just ONE POINT BABY!

Avery, I agree but I think the significant positive change is allowing participants to miss an event of two. Under the old system, very hard to win if you miss one event vs. someone who comes to all events. The last season was my first time making all the events, mostly to try and catch you though.

No he won, yet again, but it was much closer than I expected.

POINT SYSTEM has been updated at SCCAHAWAII.org Should be good and keep everyone in it till the end as you may not know which 3 you will drop. Unless you have runaways like Mr. Stache! lol.
Big change in how points are scored!
1st place gets 1000 points
1st place time / 2nd place time x 1000 = 2nd place points
1st place time / 3rd place time x 1000 = 3rd place points and so on
You also drop your 3 lowest point races! It should help keep big classes closer in terms of points by the end of the year

And like it was mentioned earlier, walk up registration will be $5 more for everyone, but you can use a credit card.
Also, in the future, non-members will be able to pre-register as well...just something to keep in mind when your novice friends want to come out (or if you yourself are a novice or non-SCCA member). If you are a novice, you still have to show up first thing in the morning for registration.
