Oh, sure, nobody points out my picture!

At the next event I'll have my video camera and ConeCam www.conecam.com setup, so I should get some good footage. I had it with me at the last event but of course I realized after getting to the track that I was missing a cable and part of the audio feed.
Dammit!

spend the money on yourself and not the car
drive mine and when you see how it sucks you'll realize that your car still has some left
but probably not enough for the STI
once these guys get em dialed
buy a book or race school
it will do more that double the money in your car

Do any of you guys have video of your runs? We just had our last auto-x for the season last sunday. It snowed lightly in the AM 1st run group but dried up later on in the day. After spinning out my first run (too abrupt on steering/throttle transitions and too high tp) and missing a gate (looking TOO far ahead) on my second run, I managed to nail a good time on the last one (it was drying up). It had a fast slalom at the end of the course with my exit speed an exhilarating 80 mph. I can't wait for next season and to race in the sun instead of the rain when I return.
What tire pressure do you STi guys run in the dry? in the wet? How about the lightly modified WRX's with similar tire packages? I have somewhat settled on 41/38 in the hot and 37/34 in the cold with hot and cold ambient temps being 70 F and 40 F respectively.
So are all of your auto-x's at HRP? Does the location give much variation for course layout? What is the avg and top speed that you typically experience? Do the courses offer open interpretation for optimum driving lines? The pics that I see look a bit tight and could favor Miatas, MINIs, and Civics (short wheelbase lightweights).
Here's a pic from an auto-x a couple of weeks ago (cold and wet).

I've only been to 3 events since I moved out here, but it seems that course design is pretty limited (as would be expected when you're restricted to a strip of pavement about 35' wide). At this most recent event I think most of us were getting into 3rd gear briefly - I'm not even sure what that corresponds to speed-wise, I've never bothered to look.
Usually I just top out 2nd (that goes for the previous couple events here and the overwhelming majority of events I've run on the mainland in the past 3 or 4 years), so getting into 3rd was kinda nice.

track layout here is SLOW!!! i managed to hit and hold 3rd for a few secs though last month. we just got back from scca in vegas and their setup is crazy fast. damn, if i had my sti up there. oooooohhhh. instead we had a rental mini that sucked on street tires. i did azz drag the entire bottom turn though and the corner workers were jumping up and down and cheering. haha. the LV setup was a 3 cone slalom and a 2 cone directional one.
on the other hand, i never saw a mustang go so fast.

yeah, it was the national champ's one that he just sold to someone there. i think he was giving the buyer some rides.
they are very loose overthere. you can have passengers ANYTIME there during your timed runs even if they never ran their car yet. kinda weird. people were riding 20 (car jumping)times before they actually drove their own car. they gave 10 runs that day, the vette club slowed it down a bunch. the helmets aren't even checked. my lic expired the day before and they didn't even check. (thank goodness) the tech inspection was a hand shake and over in 5 seconds (with the hood up). and the results don't say what kind of car anyone was driving. i also think i took out about 4 more cones then they got me for.
there was only 1 sti and 2 evos. sti was on victoracers. evos were stock. b

"As for the cones and the finish, talk to Barry Lai. He clocked what
would have been about 53.5 on his FIRST run, but missed a gate after the timing lights. Remember, every cone on the course is a potential two second penalty, and every gate must be negociated. Right Barry?
By the way, had the 53.5 been good, it would have been the fourth fastest time of the day."
