This is what the bios looks like. I set it that way and it still tries to boot from the c:\.

I downloaded a file off of the internet in order to make a boot disk, but it won't do me any good if the computer won't try to boot from the a:\.

Don't you have to drag one of the floppy drives down to the open box on the bottom left to set it to boot from floppy?

(I don't actually know - I haven't seen a pictograph BIOS in a LONG time!)

Got me stumped there chief. It doesn't try to seek the floppy at all when you turn it on?

In situations like these - I remove the hard drive from the laptop - use an adapter to plug it in to a standard IDE channel on my PC and format, fdisk, copy the win98 folder from the install CD to the notebook hard drive then install from there.
