How often if you take it to the track should you change them?

...... I added my 2¢

 

.... and you should check them after 5k or so if you're driving your car hard, adding mods, etc, etc, etc. That will give you a Good idea of when you are going to have to change them, ... as it will vary from driver to driver, car to car.
