Greetings from Sleepy Eye, MN.
I just got back from a 3-day road trip and vacation to Chicago. It rocked. (side note: Dom, sorry I didn't call you this morning. We left downtown before 6am and were near Rockford by 7. too early to call and I was "ready to drive") A couple of things I've noticed over here in the US.
1. People (lots of them) drive American cars. There are less than 30 Foreign cars in Sleepy Eye, and I was amazed on my little road trip that most (~75%) of the cars on the road were GM, Ford, or Daimler-Chrysler. I am currently driving a Malibu. It corners like a boat, and I hate it... but I like the 3.1L V6.
2. Speed Limits are higher here. A good thing. Driving near 80 without fear is nice. I drove right past the state trooper (twice
) at 78 without a twinge of fear. Rock on
3. The US is HUGE! I've put 2k miles on my rental in less than a week. Getting an average of 30 MPG, even with my lead foot... freeway driving.
4. MY ECU IS COMING HOME! Scheduled to arrive the same day I do

5. People in small towns are pretty ignorant, as a general rule. I never realized what Pat was talking about when discussing some of the attitudes of the guys on Insayne Stangs, and how they mirror those in Indiana... I guess MN and IN are a lot alike, because most of my little sisters' classmates have a VERY narrow mindset when it comes to cars/everything. I really love it here, and miss it alot, but this place is giving me claustrophobia. I needed the road trip to Chicago.
6. Chicago is one of the cooler cities I've ever been in. I did half the stuff in Ferris Buellers Day Off, and there was SO MUCH MORE TO DO. Honolulu needs more... IMHO, or course.
See you all next week... at the track... with the ECU... and RACE GAS.
