Which installation files and/or folders are safe to delete?

For instance, I've got a buttload of hidden folders like:

C:\Windows\$NtUninstallKB873339$

and

C:\Windows\$hf_mig$

and (not hidden)

C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Installations\{0F5BF410-4D79-4DBE-AF54-C3271D47D4BD}\Microsoft AntiSpyware.msi

C:\WINDOWS\RegisteredPackages\{C5B8FBE9-645E-4484-A7AA-E8DA9A70DD77}$BACKUP$

Can I just highlight/delete all of these folders? I'm only asking because I'm assuming that they were just installation packages, and since I know that when I install a program from a CD I no longer need the CD after it's installed on my computer.

It's not so much a paranoia thing so much as they are all like loose ends and as far as I can tell, they are just taking up space and that's just inefficient.

Thanks

The $NtUninstall***$ directories can be deleted. These are to uninstall updates and patches.

Leave the $hf_mig$ directory, this hold files that are used when you do these updates.

C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information\{DA7ECDA9-C6DD-4E4A-8EB8-9899E08C6740}

and

C:\Program Files\Uninstall Information

and

C:\Program Files\WindowsUpdate

You can remove the contents of these directories but I would leave the directories themselves there.

RajaDat! Thanks much.

I think this is my last one, at least for a while....

I'm in my garage on my laptop wirelessly. Whenever I try to download or upload large files, the little pop-up window down by my taskbar keeps telling me the state of my connection, sort of like my connectivity is on and off. After a while, my wireless connection will just die and I can't get it back unless I restart my computer (sometimes a couple of times.)

My connection is always 'excellent' until I d/l or upload.

When I say it goes away, I absolutely can't get it back. When I right click on 'My Network Connections' and select properties, I have 2 icons for a 1394 something and 1 icon for Local Area Connection all disabled, and the 'wireless network connection' icon (that I have now) isn't there.

When this happens, I've tried opening up my 'CMD' window and typing "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew" but nothing happens.

Any ideas?
