Well I came home and installed it this afternoon, so we will see how it goes. What is the rubber hose that comes down by the back of the downpipe on the left side as you are looking into the engine bay (looks like a drainage tube for something)? Just wondering if it is going to melt because it is touching the downpipe. Thanks for the help.
My Invidia DP is right up against the AC drain hose, I tried to move it, but there's no where else to put it. It hasn't melted yet. Although, this DP did throw a CEL right after it was installed and partially driven hard, I guess due to the extremely large bellmouth......just my input...going to run a UTEC right after I get my gauges anyways Good Luck
touching is bad. heat will melt it and cause fumes....either redirect it, or cut it shorter...its just a drain line, so making it a little shorter won't matter. I had the same thing on my 02 WRX....TXS stealthback got kinda close to it. BTW- I have an Up, and now full turbo back, and I don't have creep problems. Granted, the engine and turbo are different, but the bellmouth hasn't made any problems.
Oh, and if you want to see any Hp gains from the exhaust, you will have to tune the ECU.
My friend Byroll01@unysoc put like $6k into his sti (ceramic headers, FMIC, full blitz ehaust, etc.), and saw 10 extra Hp at the wheels on a dyno (Godspeed in Michigan). Now that the emanage is tuned, it has 309 (if I remember right, could be 319) at the wheels. My point is that just he exhaust won't do too much other than spool time, but you prolly already knew that. It sounds like you've done some homwork.

The AP is a good start. Hold off on the guages until you get the AP. Engine management is a real good idea. And with only a turbo back you don't NEED them yet.
^^^It's isn't helpful or fun to have a booooooooooooooooooost gauge?
LOLz...this girl must be hardcore! She makes putting on the DP sound so nonchalant! To me it's a pain in the anu$ because I am thick and I hate how all the debris falls in my mouth and tastes nasty!
You can get autometer boost gauges for like $50 or less ya know.

dang this is why i didnt get a downpipe a while back. i just recently started to shop for one again, but not sure if i should get one. i read some are using the stock sti muffler and are not getting boost creep. there is a crap load of nabisco threads on boost creep. they say that engine management isnt supposed to fix boost creep but many claim that it helps. i was gonna try the dremmel thing but i dont think i got the time to take out the turbo.
