Boy do I love C5's!

Set a new personal best Wed. night, drove to the track with my ET Streets on,got caught in rush hour traffic for an hour, got to the track, aired my tires down, ran a 9.72 and a 9.86,aired the tires up and drove home.A big thanks to Cartek for building me a bad-azz 9-second street car.

This car is STOCK with drag radials. WOW.

OMFG I hooked up - 11.94 run bone stock - got kicked out
After 15 tries, I finally tuned my new BFG GFORCE DR's (295/35/18) down to 16 PSI. I went from a 1.9 sec 60' to a 1.82. Thanks to all in the forum, I did some SERIOUS crowd pleasing burns. The good news was I hit an all time best After pulling a 12.050 (rt .613, .500 is perfect light), 12.090 (rt.681), 12.191 (rt .516), 12.070 (rt .643), 12.077 (rt .612), 12.029 (rt .563), I was READY to "get kicked out" of Woodburn Drag Strip (according to NHRA, any car that runs 11.99 or higher must have a roll cage). It came to closing time at the strip and there were maybe 10 cars left from 100. So, I could do whatever I wanted. I could run solo, try 60' RPM launches, whatever. The whole staff at the track, and all of the patrons, and other drivers, all had to come over to my EB 03 Z, check under the hood (cause you want that hood open between runs), and ask "where's the spray?"

"No spray. Bone stock except for the tires and an air filter."

The looks on most everyone's face was priceless. A car that has air conditioning, cruise control, gets 27 MPG, and pulls 11-12's on the 1/4 mile.

BTW: I used "Turbo Octane Boost 108" for the first 4 runs before I filled up again. THAT STUFF SUCKS. Or does nothing, one of the two but it definitely didnt help. All my times got better after I filled up and got rid of the octane boost. BEWARE additives. The Z runs pure.

At 26 PSI, the BFG GForce DR's acted almost exactly like F1's with near identical 60' times (2.047 for vs 1.822 for BFG DR). The 60' times 'increased' with almost every 'decrease' in tire pressure down to our final of 16 PSI. The tire warns not to go below 12 PSI.

Of all the damn things, I brought this killer in-car video setup and my camera gave me some "error 4." I had the most killer day racing and I have only a few seconds of video.

THIS SUNDAY is ET RACING and I WILL have in-car video.

The new powershifting technique is both awesome and a crowd-pleaser. I gained 2 tenths from switching to (extreme fast) granny-shifting to powershifting. I also gained 2 tenths for switching from F1's. This allowed me to score my best time to date. It was just me and the drag strip staff and a few dozen spectators that all wanted me to get 11.x. Well, heres the strip. What a great day racing.

DIAL 12.00
R/T .650
60' 1.822
330 5.089
1/8 7.745
MPH 93.04

My best trap today was 119.07 at 12.090. Here is a screengrab of the day, its all I have. More to follow sunday! I loaned the vette to my brother-in-law/chief chevy mechanic (handy!) for a run down the strip. This was his 2nd. He got a 12.4 not too bad.
