Air Force Academy not safe for women?

Wow. Maybe the administration should rethink the whole co-ed dorm thing?

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Of 579 female Air Force Academy cadets surveyed by the Department of Defense, 43 -- or 7.4 percent -- reported they were victims of rape or attempted rape, according to a draft report of the survey results.
1 in 5 female cadets reported sexual assault? WTF?

I was stationed at Falcon (Colorado Springs) now called Schriever (sp?)

and my son was born at the Air Force Academy. Don't know what went on at the Academy, but I do know there were some hot cadets there.

Not being an USMA grad, and certainly not an AFA grad, I have no basis to know why that is happening. I'd like to say that it isn't going on at West Point, but I just can't say. I can say that the amount of attractive cadets there is pretty low.

The 'cadre' at WP are certainly in spin cycle, though, based on what's going on up in the mountains. That I can say with much certainty.

Those numbers are absolutely astounding. On the one hand, if the numbers are accurate, then that is a pretty dismal indicator of the caliber of young men who are being put into some awesome positions of authority. On the other, if they're not accurate, it makes you wonder what in the world is going on.

Women just trying to destroy them earlier in their career!! That way they don't have to do it later!

From seeing how things work on my level for over 8 years, ... I'd say half of them are some type of false reports. People are just evil.

I went to USNA and there was quite a bit of veiled hostility from some mail midshipmen towards the female midshipmen. But nothing at USNA approached some of the stuff I heard about the USAFA. Every year 6 mids go to the AFA for a semester, and one year a guy from my company went. Some of the stuff he saw/heard about was pretty harsh. Females were referred to as "cockpits". Although now it sounds harmless, he said guys would go into girls' rooms at night and steal panties. At a civilian university I could see that being a typical frat prank or something like that, but at a military institution that's just unbelievable to me. One girl he knew caught a butt stroke in the face because she woke up when some guys were in her room in the middle of the night.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are some exaggerations or false claims in that survey, but even if you say half of the claims are false that's still hundreds of females saying they were harrassed, assaulted, or raped. Scary.
