as a former mustang owner(5.0) i am kinda disgusted by this version... i knew that the production wouldn't be close... but my goodness!! i think chrysler is the only domestic company to even get close to their concept vehicles. the h.p. is nice considering(n/a) but i just hope that they don't offer 15 inch rims again! its bad enough that they will offer it in a six! i was seriously considering buying it when it comes out... but the way it looks ... i might just stay a converted import driver. unless i can find a good deal on a 5.0(ahem ahem)(i miss you baby)

Front and rear views look pretty good, particularly the front. The sides are pretty blah, and of course Ford is sticking with the frickin' 4x4 ride height.
Why is it BMW can use a McPherson strut on the 3-series with a nice, low ride height, but Ford can't figure it out?!
Drop the ride height a couple inches and throw some big 20" wheels on it (or whatever the concept car wheels were) and I think it would look nearly as aggressive as the concept did. Oh, speaking of wheels, the ones pictured in the Hot Rod article are pretty hideous.
Huh??!!
What in the world makes you think that?
It'll be priced right where the current Mustang is - mid 20s for the GT, high teens for the V6.
The 4.6L Cobra motors have been peaking around 6k since the 4.6L was introduced back in '96. The GT motors peaked lower, but have been gradually getting higher as Ford works to get more power out of the SOHC variant. If you look at the history of the SOHC 4.6L you'll find that it started out at 215hp @ 4400rpm in '96, then got bumped to 260hp @ 5250rpm in '99, and now gets bumped further to 300hp @ 6000rpm. That's the price that Ford pays for giving up the displacement advantage when they went from the 302 to the modular V8s.
There've been rumors and magazine articles floating around about bumping the 4.6L to a 5.0L (Ford did so a couple years ago with the FR500 show car). I'll be interested to see if that's what the Cobra gets (probably along with the blower the current version has).

peak hp is made at 6000rpm. i like. typical domestic owners might not like since they will have to floor it to 6k to make peak hp instead of 3k.(joke...kinda) imagine a scca mustang trying to keep rpm's up around 6k through the track..... that would sound awesome.
