Jeremiah...that's way too many miles for me to be comfortable buying the car unless there were full-on documentation of all services and they were willing to pay for an outside mechanic to inspect it.

And even then I would still haggle the hell out of them because they know they're gonna have a hard time selling such a high mileage/low age car.

I say look for a better deal...possibly spread out your search area and find something more pristine but have to do a roadtrip to pick up.

Somehow I got 60,000 miles on my 04' in the first year.

It's funny, I have no idea how it happened, but I have 94k now.

This would be a better pick up in my opinion.

Hell you can stop by and say hello on your way home.

Jarrad from PDX Tuning, said a subaru's engine is at it's peak performance potential starting around 90,000 miles. Could someone please confirm that fact with me?

IMO, 81K miles for a 2005 is really high....Unless this STi has participated in every gumball rally in 05-08. Then I would understand the high miles.

How long do subaru's last. I bought an 02 wrx with 105,000 miles on it. Clean inside and out with a clean carfax. Does this seem like a good buy or no?

Um, what? How does its performance potential "peak" is it getting stronger as you drive more? Or did he mean thats when its performance potential starts to decline?

I was actually there when he said that... I didn't even consider it as being valid since alcohol was in the mix at the time. he does know his stuff as far as tuning is concerned but by no means would I start upgrading an engine that has 90k on it.

Jeremiah,

Long time no see buddy.

For me a 2005 WRX or STI with 81k is a little high for me. But I'm assuming this is mainland miles and in the continental us it does take a lot longer to get anywhere. I'd look into his maintenance documentation and how the car was driven...etc. to make a good determination on if it's worth it. As stated prior that is way to high for me to even consider to purchase.

Good luck.

Jon

My cars got 105,000 miles. Is it too late to upgrade the exhaust to like a borla or a straight pipe?

No, it's gonna grenade dude. Of course it's a good deal. Don't you see all the older 80's and 90's subies out on the road still?
